Can only remember one save their keeper made from Fraser which was pretty comfortable. Was a game of few chances so a draw was fair. Obviously annoying to concede so late and is another game where we go a goal up and try and see it out rather than really going for the jugular. Doesn’t matter how comfortable you are, if a team is only a goal down they will always be pushing at the end of the game and there is a chance that something like today will happen
Also... we have 38pts from 20 games and we are 4th. That is ****ing mental. Basically at the 2ppg mark We got 88pts when we went up and didn't slip out of the top two all season with Adkins. The pace of the top four teams this year is something else.
I’ve long been a detractor of Baz but he made 2 world class saves today. I didn’t see their goal, but he played well generally. I’m really impressed at how brave he is, really comes out for 50/50 balls and takes no prisoners. Definitely feels like 2pts dropped but at the start of the game many would have taken a point. We need to kill off games with that second goal… I guess that’s the difference between automatic promotion and play off teams.
Agreed on current trend, it's just the feeling I have that at some point through injuries, some loss of shape etc (yes for all teams I know), weird results start coming. It's a fascinating season to look forward to.
I can often be quite negative but even I am not writing off our chances of catching Ipswich. 10 point gap today could become 4 points if we win the next two and they lose the next two. Equally it could become 16. It’s football and what will be will be. I can feel a song coming on. As for killing the game off today I would like to see the Fraser chance from a different angle as I thought we were 4 v 2 on that break (I might be mistaken) and thought he could have squared it to one of them for a side foot finish. As for his shot, he went for power over precision making it a relatively simple save for the keeper. If he had shot low and across the keeper there was always the chance for a tap in.
Everyone knows winning the playoffs is better than finishing 2nd anyway. Smart to throw points away now rather than needing to at the end of the season when people might get suspicious
Even if they do, I still maintain that Leeds' forward line is the best in the league. Gnonto can't even get into their starting XI. Right now, if you offered me Leeds finishing 2nd and us finishing 3rd or 4th, I would take it.
Yeah, the frustration is that I think we can match Leeds and Leicester squad wise if we weren’t playing this way. But we are, so we won’t match them, and I have accepted that. If you want to go back up then playoffs will be the route. For me the only reason to get promoted is to get parachute payments again so that we can have another season in the champ where we should be winning far more games
Yeah it is the issue. The reason we are a top side in this league is the money/players we have in comparison to the majority of other teams. The only way to keep that gap is to go back up and come down again, otherwise you turn into a Swansea/Stoke/insert other teams who didn’t go back up in the first season or two. If we were to not go up I still think we would do well next season if Luton/Burnley/Sheff U come down, but along way to go before thinking about that
Yeah, but Leeds though. I mean I’m not completely ruling out a late charge up the rail, if we can stay in touch. But playoffs were the target for me at the start of the season, and as long as we’re on target for that, I’m content.
Leicester play in a similar way. It's just possession football; it's not some wild alternative way to playing the game. Watford looked decent, but they're basically still just long and direct, relying on pace. It's limited. That's why no Prem teams play that way.
I haven’t watched much of Leicester tbf, but what I have seen they are far more direct and not so slow in build up. There are different varieties of “possession football” and ours isn’t the most effective in my view
