Well, of course James said that. He's presenting a show on the radio which absolutely anyone can tune in to, whether they be knowledgeable about football or not. Just because he's a well known name in the circles we are all in does not mean he is in others. Ian also hasn't played for us in 12 years. A lot of people in that stadium never saw him in black and amber (and a good few who weren't even born), and not everyone is completely obsessed with knowing all things City. My little brother knows sod all about City prior to 2020ish, even if I've told and/or shown him. Any excuse to have a go at local media, I suppose.
i suppose this comes under the thread title. it concerns an article from footballleagueworld.co.uk that is full of ignorant crap. link at the end. this is the headline, which is fair enough If Hull City beat Leeds and Bournemouth to Ryan Kent transfer, promotion chances can't be denied it's about us possibly getting ex-rangers player ryan kent from fenerbahce. Hull City's recent success in the Championship has surprised many after years of struggling in lower leagues. wtf??????????? since 2005: 19 seasons including this one tier 1 (pl): 5 seasons tier 2: 13 seasons tier 3: one season, won the division title so 18 seasons in the last 19 have been in the top two divisions and whoever wrote the article describes that as "struggling in lower leagues" The Tigers have been languishing in the bottom half of the Championship or even in League One for the last couple of seasons. we definitely didn't "languish" in league one you can't get the staff. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/i...r-you-cant-deny-their-promotion-chances-view/
Obviously TWS or one of the Pig fans. For some reason they still see us as third or fourth tier fodder despite spending the majority of our history in the second tier, and solid performances in the second tier too (fourth best win record)
Although this is true, there were only 2 divisions for a lot of that time, stats can be read in different ways, our playing time in any league has been 109 years (time taken out for the 2 wars) of that time the first 24 years we were in the bottom division, in total were not been in the top/ top 2 divisons for 57 years of the 109 which is 53% of our time in league football.
We really should be aiming higher and more experienced. I know Rosie doesn't think we need it, but unfortunately he needs to swallow his pride and add some experience up top or I'm sorry, we just aren't going to change things
Surprised to read the news on this. Thought he was a real prospect that Leeds would want to hang on to. Don't mind if we manage to sign him as (another) one for the future.... but it would suggest a lack of ambition for a serious push this season and as HT touches on, would add more weight to the comments about Rosenior not wanting experienced, senior players who might question him more.
In my humble opinion joe Gelhardt would be a brilliant signing. I remember him almost singlehanded helping Leeds to stay up the first season back in the premiership. Scored a cracking goal if memory serves me well. My son in law and grandson are both big fans of him and they have both watched Leeds an awful lot more than most city fans. Harry doesn’t believe he’ll come to us so I’d really like this to happen and have a bit of fun on his behalf lol.
And he scored one other goal as well in his 38 games for them… To be fair no doubt few of those were starts and I don’t really know anything about him because he hasn’t played for us. I was just surprised he was a target as a striker when I looked him up and saw his lack of prolificity
He’s always been more of a second striker so playing off Delap where he can link up might be what we are looking at him for.
I'd prefer us to try and sign Luca Connell rather than Max Bird if we're looking at League 1 players who could make the step up. Connell is miles better.
I don't know anything about him either, for the same reason, but his stats are very similar to what Delap had prior to joining us FWIW. Delap 4 goals in 37 Championship games. Gelhardt 4 goals in 42 Championship games. Both of them scored fun in PL2 by the looks of it. I've no idea if that means anything or if others are better prospects. I would mind a bit of experience on the pitch TBH to support all the young talent we already have. I don't think anyone has ever mentioned it but a defensive midfielder might be a good addition.
