I also think he seems a really good guy. If we won the next two games I’d have absolutely no qualms with him getting the job permanently,’other than my hesitations above

Pack it in mate...that's 3 posts in a row I agree with you about and I don't always agree with you tbh. Good posts.

Na. It would reactionary. Even if he wins Leeds.

The club are big on the whole "model and plan" thing and if its Dodds who's get the full time job it would suggest at least to me that they didn't have a plan at all.

Can't say after one game but he certainly nailed it today. Spoke well too and wasn't remotely carried away with getting the win. Suggests he's got high standards.

Did great today, got a lot of stick last time he took over but **** me we were at the lowest we’d ever been as a club. We need to be getting the best man for the job now and it’s not him imo but I’m sure he’s an asset for the club on the training ground, chuffed for him today a job very well done.

If he could change our shape and tactics to get the strikers firing why not?

he’s just made Mowbray look very silly imo by just a few instructions and tweaks inside a couple days has us playing like that.

He was better on the touchline than Mowbray just walking around with his hands in his head.

I much prefer a manger/coach that coaches the team from the sideline.

No. We've been caught in this trap too many times before.

Not for me. Never seems to work for us, see Crosby as well as Sbragia.

Personally, I can see a scenario where he is allowed to build up his stature but eventually goes back to his previous role. Not beyond the realms of possibility imo.

I dont think it will happen, because I think the people we're looking at would probably pay their own fare to get here and at least one will be seen as a good fit...however, if they interview everyone and aren't convinced by any of them and Dodds has done a good job in the meanwhile, then Dodds till the end of the season and then a rethink would make sense.

The next appointment has to stick...no concessions made!

With the continental system we now have, getting a head coach is like replacing a car part rather than the whole car.

Dodds did well, but the job was less complicated thanks to the above.

He improved tactics with a few directed tweaks and he looked the part. I enjoyed the touchline performance, reminded me of Martin O’Neill in his prime.

That said hiring him as manager on the back of it is something you’d do in the middle of a crisis; this is anything but.

We can take our time finding a replacement that meets the owner’s specifications and it won’t negatively affect our chances of promotion at all.

I’ve reflected and I think Dodds is way too important in his current role. His continuity is invaluable and if he’s not champing at the bit to be a number 1, then there’s no reason to appoint him as such.

I doubt there are any coaches who aren't champing at the bit to be head coaches given half a chance.
