“Neath RFC was saddened to hear of the passing of former Welsh international referee Mr. Meirion Joseph at the weekend. Meirion lived locally and refereed Neath on countless occasions during the 1960’s and 1970’s and he took charge of 22 international matches between 1966 and 1977.. He holds a special place in the annals of Neath RFC as he also controlled the first WRU Cup final when, of course, Neath defeated Llanelli 15-9. Neath RFC’s condolences go to all his family and friends.” RIP

I walked with my son around the perimeter of the pitch about 45 mins before kick off. The atmosphere was fantastic and a few (older) pupils from Blaenhonddan spotted my son and called out to him.
Poet and author Benjamin Zephaniah has died at the age of 65 after a brain tumour diagnosis, according to a statement from his family on Instagram. A post on the poet's Instagram said he was diagnosed with a brain tumour eight weeks ago and described him as "a true pioneer and innovator" who "gave the world so much". The statement from Benjamin Zephaniah’s family posted on Instagram said: “It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the death of our beloved husband, son and brother in the early hours of this morning 7th December 2023. RIP
