I think Eddie’s main fault has been rotation. Time and time again Burn was playing every match whilst Tino was watching on. It was only due to injury any changes actually got made.

Hall isn’t going to improve sat on the bench every 90 minutes.

The injuries we have (I know other teams have them) but ours is utterly ridiculous. We basically have a full team out.

What’s baffling me aswell is when are they actually returning? It feels like it’s taking ****ing ages I mean Barnes only has a toe injury man!

That’s exactly what I do mate. Put a cheeky bet on the team we’re playing, at least if we lose there’s a payout.

I predict it'll be one of the other results you've got wrong.

However doesn't rotate... only isak and Wilson... he makes a few subs late in games but tend to be the same ones and the key players are run into the ground so it's a waste of time.

He's all about keeping players feeling relevant and doesn't appear to have clue about rotation...zero.. the opposite of top managers.

Eddie is going to have to stop being a safe manager when it comes to picking a team, he needs to take a risk here and there. Sometimes they don’t pay off, granted.. but he’s got to at least try. I’d rather of had 3 young lads on last night giving it there all and busting a gut than our exhausted players with nothing left in the tank.

On Sunday, same 11 it’ll be again. They’ll play with urgency for a bit then it’s back to our backs against the wall holding on. Milan is a bigger game.

    Yes I absolutely agree.

I have a feeling we might be witnessing the beginning of the end of his reign. I think his lack of experience is behind all of this, but I'm also aware it's more than possible he'll gain that experience, learn from it and adopt the changes that are required.

I don't know that he will. Did all this at Bournemouth, played the same way week in, week out, didn't rotate, tired players and ultimately poor results. He also had a transfer policy of constantly going for British players - Solanke, Mings. Ibe, Billing, Kelly, Wilson, Clyne, Defoe, Mepham just to name a selection!

It's all down to whether the leadership at Newcastle and Howe are together and how much rope Al Rumayyan is prepared to give them. We've seen the documentary - they have calls with people who have a lot of money and will now have lots of questions. Things like "bad luck" don't exist in the world of the ultra rich; you make your own luck through judgement.

Personally I think where Man City had Cook, we have Eales. Where City had Hughes, we have Howe. Then the DoF stuff started to come in, big names were taken from Barca with a plan to eventually hooking Guardiola. If this season tanks, we'll probably look to a slightly different set-up, like Dortmund who have an incredible youth structure and transfer strategy. Michael Zorc, for example, stepped down from his role as DoF at Dortmund one year ago......

I was wondering about what actually went on at Bournemouth, but one thing that I remember was Bruce defeating him 4-1 and he did nothing .. no changes despite several early goals.

The fact is managers don't last long these days and when the wheels come off , the fans will turn on him and he'll be removed.

Personally unless you can get Mourinho or another manager that isn't scared of anyone that isn't easy to manage I wouldn't swap howe, but the term steady Eddie has never been more apt.. we lack anything special... packed full of British plodders and it will continue.

We lack anything special? And packed full of British plodders?

    In no particular order:

    1. Trippier. English and possibly the best right back I have seen at Newcastle. Only one comes close foe me, Irving Nattrass.

    2. The new ‘Tino’. Early days but is displaying the talent and ability to potentially become the best right back I have seen at Newcastle. And he’s English.

    3. Bruno. Obviously not English but the best player in his position since at least Sir Bob’s time here if not as far back as the Entertainers.

    4. Batman. Again not English and again has the potential to be the best centre back at Newcastle since I don’t know when. Slightly early days but not since Woodgate have I seen such a constant effective defender at Newcastle.

    5. Isak. Again not English and again early days but he is a very talented player and regular goalscorer.

    6. Other worthy mentions include Gordon, Wilson, Pope, Willock and Big Joe.

So that’s 10 above mentioned none plodders and some not English. But never let the facts get in the way of a knee jerk reaction.

I might sound harsh and we're all entitled to an opinion, but that's 5 you've got there in a 25 man squad... I think we've got more than 5 good players so ok let's say 10! top clubs have more is what I'm getting at.

Newcastle lack about 3 or 4 top top players and it'll happen, but right now they're still short and given we're only 2 years in its hardly a surprise.

There's still an underbelly of dross that's getting games and minutes... another 400 million is required and FFP is now going to slow the owners down.

Lascelles Burn Murphy longstaff Ritchie dummett ... there's a list of plodders and if they're replaced with good players with a bit of skill nouse and guile all of a sudden over a season we'll kick on.

I would say I’ve actually mentioned ten and 8 or 9 would be playing together in the starting 11 if everyone is fit.

But without trying to be condescending which I don’t mean to be this is something I would not take issue with. It’s not an over generalisation and has context. It’s the headline generalisations that I take issue with because they never give a true picture and are inevitably not true.

Which part isn't true? It's a squad game mate we've still got too many plodders.

Well, for a start we lack anything special isn’t true. Secondly, packed with British plodders isn’t either.

I stand by it .. we've got a very small number of special players ... botmam Guimareas and isak...there's a huge squad % of British plodders like Lascelles Ritchie Dummett Murphy Burn and Longstaff still relied on and once they're replaced with good players the club will move fwd again.

The club will phase most of them out but longstaff and burn will be here for non playing reasons.

Not doomed but top 5 isn't on the cards because we're still in 4 competitions, have an awful injury crisis, the players are fatigued and we're only just entering the most congested and coldest months of the season.

If you guys were standing on the beech and the water suddenly withdrew by a huge margin you'd just carry as normal.
