One of my kids lives there so I’m a regular visitor and quite like it to be fair. I’ve said a few times (increasing homogeneity of the high street aside) that it’s almost the only other UK city I’ve been to that reminds me much of Hull, with some admittedly higher highs but also significantly lower lows.

I think the biggest difference is cultural insofar as scousers seem to be ridiculously proud of being from there, whereas mostly I find we’re a bit sheepish about being from here.

It’s a decent spot for a weekend away though

I did say it had definite lows, but like any city once you get to know it a bit you have a better idea of where’s nice for a wander around and, more to the point, where to avoid.

I definitely know people who’ve been once and would never go back, but that’s true of Hull too - sometimes it’s just whether you turn left off the bus and go up one street, or right up another.

I hope they improve first class catering by putting more than one vegan option on board.
I don’t mean more than one choice…just more than one item!
Regularly when we’re on there is only one which means I have to share with Mrs Tash and that doesn’t make for a happy start to a trip at all !

    150 mins.

I don’t thing that’s too bad tbh, but 105 from York is fast.
No express options from Hull though

(I go from Brough normally which is 137mins)

I like train travel so not that worried about a few extra minutes if there’s a comfy seat and regular coffee (or free booze on LNER!)
I can see why you’d want as fast as possible for a regular commute though. (Although your route seems to **** up regularly?)

I’m not sure it’s likely, vegan options are performing really badly at the moment and most food companies are slashing their vegan product ranges.

Doesn’t surprise me, although I wouldn’t take it as evidence of less people eating a plant based diet, or at least more plants and less meat.
In the UK we eat much less meat than a decade ago (14% less at one point, but that may have changed)
Lots of companies jumped on the bandwagon and did meat alternatives, because they hoped people would buy them because they looked like meat. A few are good but many vegans don’t want things that look like meat, plus the market was flooded with stuff and many vegans cook there own food, and eat lots of protein anyway so don’t need it (beans on toast even)
Some are good and will keep going I think (Beyond for example)

Anyway all I was asking was that Hull Trains, who do offer vegan food in first class. put two sandwiches on the train instead of one!!!
I don’t want more I the menu, just one more in the cupboard!

Me and the Mrs try do a few veggie days a week and I often have a full week of veggie pack ups at work. I'm certainly one of the ones who doesn't want 'meat substitutes' though, I'd rather make a nice dish with veg at the fore.

We did actually have a year of not eating meat until the missus had to have chemo and started losing weight and the easiest way to keep her weight up seemed to start eating meat again.

There are only two tracks in and out of Hull. Hull Trains have to share those with all the northern commuter trains. And when they finally head south proper, priority may be given to the LNER. Also more stops maybe?
A good few years ago I had a chat, or to be more correct, I listened to a chap who was acting as a consultant to improve local rail travel. His thoughts at the time will be exactly the same today. No change.

    Similar in our household.
My daughters are vegetarian so we tend all eat the same thing it’s easier.
Though I like to add seafood to my diet.

I hope your wife is ok.
