3 points are 3 points. the issue is we are looking to compete with the biggest cheats combined with the best manager and best off field football structure so they will get all bit 20 odd points every season so our standards either match or focus on lesser prizes like 4th. you cannot predict where city will drop points but you have to start out assuming they will win all 20 games v the lower half. you'll be off by 1 or 2 at worst of you do.
I think performance against lower half is crucial to top four aspirations Then performance against the big 6/7 pushes you around that top group obviously you need to win most games I think draws against lower half teams are the ones and it feels like we do that more than others then we have the 12:30 thing - which is defo a thing with us then add it’s Palace at Selhurst banana skin defo possibility I am not saying we will lose - I just hope someone has a word with the team and they understand that whilst you can’t win the title in December - you can defo lose it (suppose that goes with any month )
I don't usually bother listening to Manager interviews but saw Roy's interview after the last game. Sounded like he has ready chalked this game up as a loss. I hope his squad are as defeatist as he is, but I suspect they'll be a little more eager to earn a point or three even if Roy would rather be at the pub.
when we won the title bottom half Games played 20 Goals scored 49 Goal conceded 16 Games won 17 Games drawn 2 Games lost 1 Win ratio 85% Draw ratio 10% Loss ratio 5% Goals per game 2.45 Goals conceded per game 0.8 So the title was all but won if people remember a really odd night at Watford in December where were just were off and we came back and thumped Leicester 4-0 to put it right. We drew to Everton 0-0 where they parked the bus in march and we draw to brighton 1-1 when it was well won. Everton were despereate for us to to win it agasint them.. This year so far: Games played 8 Goals scored 21 Goal conceded 6 Games won 7 Games drawn 1 Games lost 0 Win ratio 88% Draw ratio 12% Loss ratio 0% Goals per game 2.63 Goals conceded per game 0.75 As i must win games we are doing fine in them but they are must win with no margin for error.
Another little thing 19/20 top half 18 36 16 14 2 2 78% 11% 11% 2 0.89 the two losses are city away 4-0 and arsenal A after title was done 1-2. the two draws were utd when Lallana scored late on and Burnley away also later in season with nothing on it (yes Burnley finished top half that year) the contrast is this top half top half Games played 7 Goals scored 13 Goal conceded 9 Games won 3 Games drawn 3 Games lost 1 Win ratio 43% Draw ratio 43% Loss ratio 14% Goals per game 1.86 Goals conceded per game 1.3 Its clearly getting tougher to play the clubs i nthe top half and theres a lot more goals flying in at both ends. we cn all see that. City have lost to villa and arsenal, Draw with us and spurs and chelsea. their only blemish in the bottom half is that bizarre loss to wolves 1-2. This league could come down to who holds thier own in the top half and hockeys the rest. Arsenal Lost to Newcastle, and drew with Spurs and Chelsea. their only blemish is a 2-2 draw with fulham at home. It really is that tight.
woy is funny that way. you kind of want to believe its all for show and they will be steaming but they need to get the fans and players going. They've bags of talent in that team. If they lay down for us it'd be very nice of them.
Did I? Quite possibly. But no one game where points are dropped is any more crucial than any other similar one. No single game costs you the title.
I know mate Just my way of dealing lol Still hope that their heads are switched on I think it’s more frustrating When you are up against a team that really if you have title aspirations and you switch off - not that the oppo plays awesome. if it’s like that I think you can argue it has cost you the league no matter how early it happens But that’s just my take on it
One thing is that Palace won't be used to getting up early to play football will they? The crowd is thier best asset and it just won't be as physical a game with woy in charge as well.
So Palace. Lost 2-0 v Bournemouth at home. Not a good omen for them Johnstone Ward Anderson guehi Mitchell Richards lerma Olise schlupp ayew Edouard Mitchell came off injured with some for of hip/ groin injury Eze and dacoure are out longer term too. There's no shocks coming in this line up is there? Olise is the main threat and the rest are not great are they. They can all grab a goal but are not fantastic
Luton also played very well against us and Arsenal. They were unlucky to be beaten by Arsenal. Everton were not expected to beat Newcastle, anyone can beat anyone, no game is easy in the Premier league.
It'll be a different story against us as there's no obligation to go after us. We didn't beat them last year as their defence was pretty solid, although we were poor in both games.
that is true, they don't need nor probably want to come out at all. However we have changed form last year and were exactly what you said. poor. We have to do two things, just the same as against sheff utd. Don't make stupid errors. (olise and ayew and edouard are more than capable score if a players does a gomez style error per midweek) push to make the breakthrough with urgency. the faster we play the better. Faster doesn't mean run more it means move the ball fast. If we get the first goal i think we will win well. (and obviously yes if we don't get one goal you can't win irrespective)
Ali back in training so if not back for tomorrow should be back for next weekend if not a run out on Thursday.
Man utd only imo. It'd be bad to risk him v uinion when we can debut pitaluga. My uniion team Pitaluga Bradley Gomez Quansah Chambers Elliott Mcconnell Jones Doak Gordon AHMED Seriously though this game is totally out for me for any risks. I'd rather throw it 0-10 than risk one first team player.
One of the thing that makes me scare is 12:30 early kick off. However, we can play our strongest team against Palace as we are already through in Europe.
