As long as Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger are fit to play I think Carragher can continue to be on the bench .This is not to have a go at Carragher,all Liverpool supporters do respect him. He can start to pave way for younger defenders.We have thesame defensive record as thast of Manchester City and Newcastle United 11 goals against so far. Carragher can play against Chelsea in the league cup next Tuesday.The problem we are having is not scoring enough goals. Do you think Carragher should have automatic right for selection.? Your comments.
I don't think anyone should have automatic selection and Kenny has made that clear too by not choosing carragher against chelsea and starting with Bellamy rather than Caroll. Our defence is good at the moment, if it aint broke don't fix it
respect yes but equal respect to the guys with the possession of the first team slot. If they keep performing and we tighten up a bit more over and able this we can build a good base for our season. For me carrgehr should have no automatic right just like hyppia didn't. being a club where performance matters more than name is a good thing IMO.
The more Skrtel and Agger can play together then the better. They are nearly the classic one tackles and stops everything, Skrtel... Ans the other can play football, tidys things up and plays the ball out of defence, Agger... (thats what we dont get from Carra...) If we can then get them to play to a consistant high level then it can only bode well... Carra will always be available, obv if fit, and its not a bad sub/replacement... Its a good problem for KK to have...
I think personally that Agger is the key and not necessarily Carras absence. I've said many times before that keeping him fit will prove the decisive factor in how well we do this year as a defensive unit...he is a class act. Is Skrtel suddenly a better stopper and tackler than Carra? Not so sure personally but I do think we are better off with Carra/Agger or Skrtel/Agger than we are with Carra/Skrtel. Now the only thing is......how the hell do we keep Danny boy fit??
