Ah, ok it’s this. https://www.skysports.com/amp/f1/ne...-wife-susie-wolff-as-fia-launch-investigation
The FIA confirmed their awareness of “media speculation” regarding an allegation of confidential information being passed to an unnamed F1 team boss by a member of FOM personnel – this allegation being published by the magazine " Business F1" in the December 2023 edition.
FIA hasn`t confirmed whether it’s investigating Mercedes boss Toto Wolff over allegations of a conflict of interest with his wife Susie The best thing Susie could have done was to say nothing about all this and simply deny it all. Instead she is accusing Ben Sulayem of sexism and misogiynist remarks. .Seems like she is trying to build up some sort of defence.
I’m not sure if it’s known. The suggestion is that Toto revealed something in a team manager’s meeting, which could have only come directly from FOM.
Rumour seems to be that Wolff mentioned exact figures from the cost cap audits that he wasn't supposed to know. Hard to prove Susie was involved though. Everything leaks in this sport.
yeah if he has done himself over by showing he knows something then the next hurdles is proving who told him.
And now a bunch of teams putting out statements that they haven't complained to the FIA. What is going on here?
Also, Mercedes had the second floor stays at Canada GP 2022,only one day after it was confirmed to be legal to use. The legal/llegal Ferrari engine was all known about by Toto first. The Red Bull cost cap breach figures,Mercedes first to know. I also read that Mercedes were the only team that voted for Carlos Saintz to take penalties for the damage to his car in Las Vegas 2023.
No need to apologize. I'm just confused by the whole thing. It's seems quite bizarre and a bit cloak and dagger.
I read something similar - Merc were the ones to refuse Ferrari's application to have an exemption from a rule, they didn't vote for penalties just that the rules are adhered to. In Toto's defence, he is running a business and as such he has a duty to the shareholders and a moral duty to the employees to do everything in his powers to do as well as possible. So in Carlos's case I can understand Toto making the powers that be stick to the rules so Merc had a better chance of staying P2 in constructors championship. The rules have to work both ways - i.e. enforced by the FIA on the teams but also used by the Teams to ensure everyone follows the same rules. That said I do think there should be some sort of contingency to allow for incidents like Carlos having an accident due to the circuit failing to not be penalised.
I just thought that it seems to show the way Toto Wolff thinks about winning at any cost and being the only team out there willing to enforce Ferrari to take penalties for repairs that were through no fault of Carlos Saintz, while others showed a little compassion and pity for Carlos and Ferrari. The actions ensured Saintz started so far back that a favorable chance of points was zero. Thus strengthening Mercedes chances of finishing second in the constructors championship, which they went on to do in AD The fact that you did highlight my comment on that subject, does now seems of no significance or consequence.
Marc deserve what they got done to them in the desert screw job if this is the type of stuff they get up to. Its who can screw who most rather than a sport of keeping things in check.
The mass denial from all teams makes me think this is probably nothing more than another front of the FIA Vs FOM war.
