Money talks and there are already big names there so it wouldn’t surprise me. Although I’d rather see him retire than leave Europe to play.

Wouldn’t compromise anything to be fair. No one’s tarnished their legacy so far having gone Saudi.

Hugo’s a player more than deserving of a huge last payday if he wanted one. Go and get that bread I say, whether it be Saudi or MLS.

I still think that our goalkeeper situation needs tweaking in January.
If Lloris leaves, then getting in a 2nd choice keeper would be sensible.
Austin and Whiteman need to play regularly to have a proper career.

Gonna be a tough position to fill. Not completely sure who we could get/ go for.

Maybe raid Burnley for Trafford once they go down or Bazunu if Saints don’t come up? Lefty will love the latter.

I’d ideally like to go for a Vorm-esque type, a proper established keeper but I can’t think of any who’d be happy doing what Vorm done, was pleasantly surprised when we signed him, rare to find a good keeper happy to join as 2nd choice.

Austin's surely off at some point. He turns 25 in January and hasn't played a minute of first team football since mid-2021

Austin and Whiteman seem to have zero interest in pursuing a proper career. I cannot understand their attitudes.

Both on a few grand a week here. They wont get that anywhere else at the moment. Neither are good enough to make it at the top so at best would hope for a career in the football league or equivalent which even then for a GK is slim, so if you’re in their positions you’ll take the stability of this wage for as long as possible than risk falling into obscurity any day of the week.

Piss poor mentality and a total lack of ambition imo.

And the club has pandered to them due to a consistent lack of HG players, which in itself is unforgivable.

Depends on what ambition is for a mediocre GK talent.

They’re almost certainly earning more here than they would for the next 3-4 years elsewhere and it’s much more likely they’d fall into obscurity than make it to a level where they’d earn parity or more than what we pay. The record of past academy keepers shows that.

David Button’s probably the only keeper we’ve produced since Ian Walker that’s had a genuinely respectable enough career as a Prem backup/ starter in the football league.

    ...no wait, come back!

Anyway, we're being linked with Ben Godfrey, which is sure to boil the piss of Everton's board who pretend that we're the sole reason their finances aren't Aladdin Sane, especially as he has 18 months on his contract and that’s begging for a Levying

I would imagine people will be quite happy to accept the kind of "Levying" you gave out for Richy <laugh>

Whilst in most fans opinion we massively overpaid, according to Everton we paid £20m below the asking price so yes if we can pay £20m below the asking price for Godfrey they will be paying us to take him away :emoticon-0136-giggl

    Spurs :emoticon-0150-hands Man Utd

Over paying on absolute dross for a number of years.

    Beat this team:

    Onana
    Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Sessegnon
    Antony, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sancho
    Richarlison, Hojlund

That's odd, as Everton don't seem too happy at losing their top scorer for two of the previous three seasons for a comparatively low price in a hyperinflated market as if they somehow couldn't ask for more money

Odd that they don't seem to have an issue with losing their top prospect to a team with infinite money for about half of the going market rate a few months after, though...

Chelsea will certainly have a go: Kepa, Lukaku, Cucurella, Mudryk, Nkunku, Bakayoko, Morata, Drinkwater, Torres, Mutu

The Bottlers certainly have a few in their locker too, notably Pepe and Mustafi (and, comparatively, Jeffers)

And then there's the Mansourites: Jovetic, The Invisible Kalvin, Santa Cruz, Ted Mendy, Jo, Rodwell, Bony, Mangala

The Invisible Kalvin is right. There was an old joke which said that the reason that the extremists couldn't find Salman Rushdie in the fatwa is that he was playing centre forward for Scotland. These days he could alternately occupy Kalvin Phillips' place in Citeh's squad.

A return to a few years ago, when players were
regularly getting updated contracts as their
    performances increasingly improved.

He’s definitely earned it, strong season with Udinese and then been excellent so far with us.

He’s everything we wanted Sessegnon to be and more.

Porro, Sarr and Sonny next hopefully.
