If memory serves, we've been down this road before and it wasn't good. I was really hoping that after sacking TM they would have already had someone lined up to slot right in....guessing I am wrong
Not bothered if it's Will Still personally, no idea if he'd be great or awful. For every Farioli there's a Paul Clement. Or a Steve Cotterill, he was hailed as the best young potential back in the day. Just have to trust the folks being paid the big bucks have a better idea than anyone else I guess.
For a few seconds, it crossed my mind that if we win, him and Proctor might come under consideration for the job. Then, I woke up from the nightmare.
So am I , but we really shouldn't feel like that, they are coaches at our club, surely they should know what they are doing ?
As I am a natural pessimist, I think our new manager will be announced not next week but the week after !
I’m not going to pretend I know enough about any foreign coach to be the judge but Still fits an exciting profile. After a day off researching the next linked name I may think the same. I think they’re pretty thorough with processes these days though maybe a bit lacking in reality. Maybe I’m getting old
We've had numerous discussions on here in recent times about the quality of our player recruitment and speculated that this attention to detail may also extend to the coaching staff. Guess we're about to find out if KLD and KS really do have a dossier on a number of preferred recruits.
I think the club are more savvy these days and whilst I think it'll be Dodds in charge on Sat, I think we'll have a new man in the stands at least, with the intention of taking over on Monday. Confident we won't see another Keane/Neil/McCann debacle
Why wouldn't they? It's been well documented that they do. The Mowbray appointment is evidence of that
Depends if it's a short list or a preferred candidate. You'd assume the Mowbray sacking was done tactically having already warmed up potential replacements and NOT just a reaction to his bitchy comments on Sat
Agree, that's my point. I don't think performances were bad enough for a knee jerk Mowbray sacking.....disappointing,but not a disaster......I'm guessing, but the suggestions that there may have been the beginnings of an unsettled dressing room, together with possible confrontation between TM and KS,would indicate they would have been ahead of the game in lining up a TM replacement, having already done the due diligence.
I was expecting an announcement this week to be honest. Thought it would've been pretty much all sorted at the weekend to then sack Mowbray on Monday. Obviously still might happen but if it drags on 2 or 3 weeks the timing to sack Mowbray would feel strange to me.
Just think. If Ken Dodd wins the next game or two he might be given the job full time. Possibly until the end of the season as caretaker. Other currently free caretaker possibilities are Gareth Ainsworth and Tony Mowbray.
It may be that thing behind the scenes have escalated to the point where they couldn't keep him on. There have been tensions since the summer and him breaking ranks on the club's recruitment policy was possibly the last straw. At that point, they revert to their short list and start making calls. Dodds to take the team Sat, new man to start Monday (hopefully)
