It's pretty arbitrary in the long term anyway given Twine is a loan and likely to be back at Burnley in 6 months.
Given how little time he was given at Burnley( partly down to injury i know) and how he was ushered out of the door when we showed an interest, couple that with the suggestion that he was the player who'd believed he has made a mistake in turning us down, I wouldn't be so sure he won't be here next season too.
Burnleys promotion had a lot to do with them loaning him out. Can't see them staying promoted. I agree though they may be happy to move him on in summer, though it's far from a given and we can't assume they will at this stage. The better he does for us, the more likely they'll fancy him for their next championship campaign though.
Turning that same argument on its head, the player himself appears to be settling in well, is appreciated by the manager he is playing for, and club, and if it's true about him being the player who admitted to making a mistake in choosing Burnley over us, then I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him force through a move, providing we of course want the same things. Player power rules in footy these days.
I wouldn't be that surprised either, but it's a lot of ifs and buts and is far from guaranteed. We at least have the security over Tufan's contract - though we may also offload him in summer, who knows? Out of all our current loans, Twine is probably the most likely to still be here next September. Lots of water to flow under the bridge til then though.
Need a new goalie as a priority for next season ....If Leeds go up. Darlow might be available. Plus perhaps 3 others for next season. With a couple of shrewd buys we'll pi$$ this league next season.
Will have to replace Delap and Morton as well most likely, not that we can't use the loan market again, but they're key roles to replace.
Fair shout....If we replace them with quality, a new keeper, plus new full backs, a centre mid and someone who can find the onion bag we'll do okay.
The post you quoted may be an exaggeration, but I definitely think it's true that Tufan is often guilty of being lazy; sometimes in his running but often just his decision making. He'll go down easily when everyone knows it's not a foul and leave the team having to recover as the opposition are needlessly allowed to break on us, or he'll lazily shoot from a stupid position when there are better options because in that moment he just can't be bothered to stick to the plan or be a team player. Not all the time, but often enough that it's an issue and I think this stuff is why he isn't in the Philogene, Delap, Twine bracket of starting every week, despite being paid more than any of them.
The fee they’d probably ask for would put me off. He’s miles away from being a top championship player. They’re likely going to be in the championship too next season
No. Not at all.....More like squad depth improvement...We're lightweight in a number of areas, that need to be addressed.
Twine’s definitely improved as the season’s gone on, but I’m not sure he’s improved enough to warrant a permanent, certainly not for any significant fee.
He's not as natural in terms of shape out of posession, but tbh I don't think he's particularly lazy - not under Rosey anyway. Might run out of steam a bit quicker and have less positional discipline than twine but he does still track back and come deep. On the other hand when he's on it he can be devastating. I don't really see the two as that comparable really. Very different attributes. Of course if your highest earner isn't playing much though, it's probably legitimate to query whether or not the money could be better spent elsewhere. Reckon it'll be summer if he goes though.
I'd see how he goes til summer. If he keeps progressing well and Burnley will sell for what they paid then maybe it'll make sense by then.
I mentioned before that the likes of Morton, Delap and Twine, all getting regular starts, buying into the philosophy that Rosie is employing and seemingly enjoying their football might be open to at least another season here, given the clubs certainly that Morton and Delap are from there is no guarantee they'll make it there. I know it's ifs, buts and maybes.. but I wouldnt be surprised in the least if some if not all 3 are here next season, would love it to be permanents but not even I am that hopeful that they all will be, however wouldnt be surprised if at least one of them to stay.
