Not a lot of time for Edwards, but not sure much he says in there is inaccurate actually. Not much of it is even disputed.

    "serial winner Tony Mowbray"

    Won Championship in 2008
Finished 2nd in League One 2018

Not quite the honours roll for a serial winner

I don't believe this has been a heat of the moment , Tony going. As I posted last night (screen shot) I was told in the middle of November he wouldn't see 2024 here at the club. From what's went on, I believe this decision isn't all just Sunderland saying "out you go", I think it's more mutual than anything else. I could be wrong. However what I was told was "Either upstairs or gone". People may call bollocks, but to be told in middle November that he wouldn't be here in 2024 and we're less than a month away, that would be a canny stab in the dark.

To be fair, given our managerial history it was a fairly safe bet to say he'd be sacked soon enough.:emoticon-0140-rofl:

Things haven't been right since the Faroli rumours. Felt inevitable

I think older managers like to have more control in terms of decision making internally and especially with transfers, mostly because that is the way they have done it for most of their managerial careers. Younger coaches are mostly trying to get a foot in the door so more likely to accept these new club structures like we have with Speakman, that and also it is just more normal to have less control now. I've been a big fan of Uncle Tone's work for us and I'm gutted he's gone but I also think it was inevitable and just a question of when. Sad but we look forward and thank Tone for his efforts, he made great headway for whoever comes next.

how often did we hear 'there is something rotten in the club somewhere' or similar words, how often have past managers/coachs been sacked and the fans say 'it should have happened weeks ago' and for how long have fans said 'we dont have a plan'?

well, now we have good new owners, now we have a plan and now we see a manager sacked before things could have turned worse...so why does it not feel right?

'the plan' was always geared for the future i thought but my worry (don't think i am alone) was if 'the plan' was too rigid, it needed some flex in there and if there is a downside to it then that is it...teams/squads need experience in there with people who have seen it all in a game, they can see what shape a team is playing and adjust team mates to match.

after the rumours in the summer i honestly feel that TM had hit his limit according to the club and a bad run would see him out, i hope 'the plan' has the new man already in place but the club will leave a little time in respect for TM before announcing him.

Conversation between me and my Liverpool supporting mate:

    [12:22]

Mowbray gone - is that harsh after all he has done? Or was their no way of turning the tide?

    [12:30]

Hmm most people on the outside will see it as harsh however the club has a plan and they're sticking to it. Just recently Mowbray's tactics and team selection have been questionable. He particularly isn't getting the best out of the strikers (and I don't think it's because they're crap). We need a change of approach whether that be from Tony or someone else. I like the bloke and he had us playing superb football last year but we've not pushed on and the owner is looking for upward trajectory from last year which isn't happening. Rumours were they were going to get rid in the summer but Tony had done really well (probably beyond what was expected) and it was difficult to pull the trigger then. Seems like he had until the first downturn though.

    [12:32]

Ok, fair enough. Saw you had slipped down but seemed a blip. As you say, they are ambitious so better to change now and get fresh blood and ideas in. Should be plenty of choice out there.

    [12:37]

I suspect young and foreign is the way they will go, not someone from the recent sackings (I hope!). Hopefully they have someone lined up. In the summer it was Farioli who's now managing Nice and has them 2nd in Ligue 1. Obviously won't be him now but someone similar maybe.

    [12:55]

Yes fingers crossed as still an attractive project for someone - even despite the location!!

Please forgive me for not going through all the above posts, I'm in hospital and the wifi is pants.

I did warm to Mowbray, and I think that 18 months is not long enough...

    History -

I'm dissapointed to lose him despite not being his greatest fan, following remarks he made towards an Under9 Sunderland kid, who had just won a Penalty Prize competition at Ayresome Park, in the company of Bobby Robson over 30 years ago. He was made to apologise to the child, and his father.

I loved the way TM handled his interviews. I loved his humour too.

He took us to an inch of promotion through the Wembley play-offs, despite losing our best striker for half of the season.

And please remember this - We have only been out of the top 6 for a few weeks now.

So what am I thinking now?

Thank you TM, you have given us more positives than negatives. We have seen some mind-blowing football.

    KLD -
Again, I'll repeat this, he has an absoloute wealth of football knowledge, and contacts thoughout the football world.

The exciting players he has brought to our club so far, has been staggering. He means business, tht's for sure.

Next Manager/Coach - Think about it !....Has KLD and the board, been looking for a while now?...Has TM been a stop-gap until they get their man?

Who knows. However guys, consider this - If KLD can attract these young stars though his outstanding recruitment team, then there's a massive chance that he has already identified his new Manager.

And, I will chance this presumption too - Consider that the new replacement has been looking at us for a while now.

How about this - He has been scrutinising our game plan?, our weaknesses?, our player's strengths...etc etc?

And imagine this - If I'm somewhere right, then maybe, only maybe - this new leader may hit the ground sprinting...

    Well it is Christmas....
