Think I said it on Saturday that he was signing his own death warrant when he came out with that after the match
https://x.com/JamesCopley_/status/1731964772650823788?s=20 "Told that the dressing room feeling was one of general surprise at Sunderland’s decision to sack Tony Mowbray when the news broke last night." Not sure what they were still doing in the dressing room at 10pm mind
Burstow was training with Chelsea’s first time and on the bench for their PL games at the start of the season. People are going on like we’ve signed a kid from Spennymoor
Yep. I do agree with a chip over the defence occasionally. It should be practised too, and that has been a clear deficiency. It pushes a defence back and everyone has to drop back a bit. It's good enough for Abhu City!
Replying to myself is madness I know, but worth pointing out that media folk being told that the response was "surprise" could be from a single source, and that source may even be saying what he thinks he should be saying. Or lying.
This sacking might FINALLY cure me of my addiction to Sunderland AFC. Before calling it quits, Ill wait ans see what comes next, but afterwll over seventy years, the club might have managed to get rid of me.
Interestingly its 2 years ago today that Ipswich sacked Paul Cook. This was the tweet of them announcing it. You only have to look at the comments (ignoring the newer revisionist ones) and see the parallels here. Not every sacking is a rushed and pointless one. https://x.com/IpswichTown/status/1467209666774147080?s=20
Yes he was. But Chelse also are known, along with other clubs at that level, to give young players public time on the bench and pitch to help their value. It's happened fair bit. In the case of Burstow, he's got good technique, but stops making runs when the ball doesn't come, looks easy to brush off the ball, and isn't that quick. Maybe later on for him, but he's had as much or more time starting than any forward and not shown much. Going off on Saturday in what looked like a sulk didn't help him either mind, when he'd been an ornament all game !
for all the good work he did I think he crushed a couple of the strikers confidence completely imo especially hemir.
Well see if its rushed or not I suppose. If they have an alternative in quickly they've got a plan, something they like to talk about. If they start looking around now, it is rushed.
I can't believe they'll have done this now without a plan for someone to step straight in. If they have,it's a rank bad bit of management which we've not seen much of under this regime.
