We've played a total of two cup games under him to be fair. I'm sure he's like almost all managers in that he prioritises the cups well below the league schedule and will rotate accordingly, but would prioritise it more if we accidentally got close to the final.
Yes, which is why I said I hoped it wasn't an indication of anything, as it wasn't yet a trend. A rather mild comment I thought but evidently not.
Other than getting to the final, no. A "big day out" against a Premier league club just doesn't appeal to me when we've played them all fairly recently. Obviously I like to see Hull City win matches whatever the competition but a defeat in the Cup never leaves me as disappointed as one in the league
Where did I say they were? I'm giving my reasons as to why I specifically am not particularly interested in the Cup, as a supporter of a Championship side. I appreciate others will think differently (which you never seem to)
And that's fine, I responded by suggesting there are other things people enjoy in the Cup. We've established you don't care.
And I've never once criticised anyone who does care. That's their view which they're perfectly entitled to, and good on them, but as this is a forum for discussion I've put my thoughts down in response
And when we first discussed this yesterday I left it as you're right you're entitled to your opinion, I just don't know why it needed repeating today.
Sydney, that response, if you care to analyse it, is a classic example of why some posters find you unnecessarily argumentative. You post some good reasoned stuff but it seems sometimes you can’t help yourself. Have a think about it mate and post constructive stuff.
I had an exchange with Wessie which began because I dared to 'beat Rosenior with a stick' about losing two Cup games, perhaps you can reflect on the exchange starting with that post and perhaps that being the 'unnecessarily argumentative' post as it seemed rather designed to elicit a reaction from me. I then left the conversation as it had been done and there was nothing to add, but Wessie then continued to insist there was no point to Cup runs in conversations with others, so I pointed out that just because he doesn't enjoy them doesn't mean others don't. I appreciate you're genuinely approaching this as a way of changing the way I post/am perceived by others so thank you for that, but without the context of why I approached the conversation the way I did it paints an entirely different picture of the conversation.
I'm still not really sure why you brought up the two cup defeats in the first place Syd. To me it read as though you already have concerns about how LR treats the cups, because as other posters have said, it's two games. Hardly worth commenting on
I brought it up because we've had two cup games under our current manager and this is a thread about the third. I said I hope it doesn't become a trend. I'm not really sure what was so confusing about it.
If someone made a similar comment after losing a couple of early games in the league, I'm sure you'd pick up on it, if you know what I mean
No I don't I'm sorry. If we'd lost our first match of two consecutive seasons, heading into the third season I might say "We seem to start seasons slow, hopefully we don't lose this time" in the same spirit as the comment here. I think you've made what was a relatively innocuous comment into something much bigger than it was, and as seems clear from your line of comments you're trying to provoke me into a back and forth on it so I'll (again) leave it there.
These back and forth spats are genuinely tedious, they ruin decent threads. They also often include the usual suspects. Boring as **** tbh.
I think sometimes people see what they want when "the usual suspects" post. Nothing about the above exchange resembled a back and forth spat any more than this now is. Two responses to someone and then leaving a conversation is hardly worth getting upset over.
