Norwich were there for the taking today and we didn't have either the players or a clue how to get the three points. We are so weak all across the pitch and although I feel for Liam it's obvious that the exciting football he promised is still in the mail. Our players are quite shocking at times and we have absolutely no threat in the penalty area much the same as at Southampton where we should have been 2-0 up at half time. Liam has his work cut out to get anything resembling better out of this current squad and the wait still goes on to see a team capable of doing anything at this level. Unfortunately I see so many of our squad that are not up to this level of football and I seriously question how some of them arrived at Ashton Gate. Unless the powers that be step up and give Liam the help he so clearly needs we will spin our wheels going nowhere much like the last 10 years. The boos at the end surely must tell the Lansdowns that the supporters are not happy, and who can blame them, because yet another dismal display tells them that all their concerns are in vain because nobody is really listening. When Liam was hired as Head Coach I knew the usual writing was on the wall because control by the Lansdowns is all that matters, and to hell with the crowd.
I watched about 40% on a stream. First 20 minutes we were very lucky - Norwich missed a sitter and hit the post. After that we stabilised and started to apply pressure which paid off with Knights goal. Apparently we had a couple more chances in the first half but didn’t see those. Second half I saw the own goal - unlucky deflection imho. We then appeared to be pressing for the second - but they broke away and scored. Seen it so many times. Very frustrating.
QPR ....Franz gets away with a penalty - we get a point. BORO.... he scores and we're lucky to get a point let alone 3. SAINTS.....lost. NORWICH....Franz does it again. Lost. Yes, we've scraped 4 points from 12.... but thanks to Franz it could so easily be 1 point from 12. Forget Franz, he isnt on his own for cock ups......it can't be right - JL and Tinnion say we're under trained and p/o material. Today was a library at AG.........is it any wonder.....10,000 passes sideways.....mind numbing. I know it's the modern game but ffs it has to be better than this. Manning will get money in January for signings. Can't help it - I wish it was Nige.
Well people I’m not jumping up and down just yet but would you like to tell me where we have improved results wise. Nige would have had better results I’m sure of it. Powder puff upfront. Priority in Jan is two strikers. Weimann and Williams not good enough any more. Tanner-Mehmeti-Cornick not good enough. Get these gone and replace.
I get the criticism regarding Zak making the mistakes but our forwards need to take responsibility for the chances missed too .. we are definitely powder puff in front of goal.. needs addressing imo
What makes you so sure we would have been any better with Nige in charge? All looks the bloody same to me
since Nige has gone Bell and Conway look a fraction of the players. As said not going to complain until end of Jan when I hope the Lansdownss give him funds-those that Nige did not get and the fact these are not his players.
He may need signings to keep us up in January if the likes of Sheffield Wed, QPR, Huddersfield and Rotherham continue to pick up points
And there was I hoping to be eating humble pie. Seems not and unfortunately my prediction was correct.
I watched the entire game today and City looked just the same as they have done for the last several years and longer. Why are the Lansdowns so bad at choosing managers/coaches who then can only bring in players of questionable ability to get the job done in regards to our Championship sustainability? When I look at today's squad we had nobody out there who looked even slightly up to the task of beating a poor Norwich side. The likes of Mehmeti, Wells, Cornick, Weimann who were brought in to strengthen our squad are either past their best before date or don't have a clue as far as being an asset to the team. Poor Zak came a cropper today but the bunch in front of him have to accept some of the blame because our mid-field is shocking in it's ability to keep control of the game. I liked what I saw in the first half against Southampton but we fell off our perch in the second half, and continued that less than average commitment through almost the entire 90 minutes out there today. For so many years we attempt to build a competitive team by bringing in less than talented players and expect miracles to happen. Our new coach has had neither playing or coaching experience at this level and I fear that he is the next sacrificial lamb to arrive at Ashton Gate and if he thinks he will get the support he so clearly needs I'm afraid he will fail, and that is grossly unfair to the guy. Our style, or lack thereof, continues to wreck any chance of the supporters getting a thrill any time we take the field and I can't see it changing in the foreseeable future. Spending much of the time going backwards combined with passing that is laughable at times is clearly a major fault but when you throw in a total lack of a goal threat you have a recipe for potential disaster. I think I can predict another lack of action in January which is our usual way of showing our commitment to growth and advancement because we will get the statement of going for a rebuild in the summer. Even our young players have gone into winter hibernation as there wasn't one of them out there today who earned their salary and for me they need mentorship both on and off the field but I can't see from all of other players who is up to the task of showing them the way. The moment that long ball left the foot of the Norwich player in the 95th minute and Zak was left stranded alone at the back I knew the winning goal was about to go up on the scoreboard - and it did. The only change since Nigel left was the coach but the song remains the same with the squad as they remain in the dark ages of apathy and the proof of that pudding was evident out there today. Same old garbage will always get you the same old score-line to defeat. Shocking but so sad at the same time to have to see this dereliction of duty by all attached to Bristol City and they tell us they want us to succeed. Bah humbug.
Norwich nine games not won a game come to Bristol City and walk away with 3 points -shocking by Bristol City I bet Nige is having a little chuckle.
What like he was when we played Stoke? Or even worse like we played against Brum or PNE. Even Coventry we was lucky.
If the Manager isn’t already under pressure, from what I’ve seen and heard, and after a few more results that go against us, he soon will be
The truth is we were told the reason the last manager was sacked was because he was underperforming with the players at his disposal, the new one was brought in to turn it around this season. He’s not been here long enough yet, but the signs so far aren’t looking great. To keep quoting previous results is missing the point, the new manager is supposed to have us challenging for top 6 this season, I hope he achieves it, if he doesn’t JL & BT will have questions to answer.
Some say the OG was unlucky, I say once again the defender involved was too narrow, not closing the attacker down quick enough
