We need to mix it up a bit mate. Teams do start to nullify your strengths, what we need to do is change slightly how we play to pose a different threat. It's a long season and there'll always be dips in form. We are still in the hunt for the playoffs but need to find our form again fast, before we head into January.

As with every manager in every league ...

... not the boldest prediction tbh.

He moves into Midfield and 09 moves across which opens up the opposite wing.

Which allows Huggins to push forward and Hume then drops in. We can't overload both wings at once

It’s clearly not working and hasn’t for a while so why still do it? And you can have both full backs doing there normal job instead of trying to be clever and it’s not overloading anything.

Last season we had Hume and Cirkin overlapping and dragging the defence all over. Now they cut inside it just slows things down and bottles the play up.
Its very worrying we can all see a change is needed but week in week out its the same shape.
Something has to change. I really hope its not TM because he has been great so far for the young kids development and we were fabulous last season but tactically hes hit a brick wall at the minute.

We started to today with the cross field long balls and in general longer balls.

Trouble is with the young lads if it doesn't reap immediate results they go back to what they know. The difference when Dack came on and went as a false 9 with clever movement was clear to see.

We just don't have the nous across the team to exploit things, that will come with experience

So both fullbacks pile forward to support rhe wingers and leave us short and in trouble to the counter?

it’s scary how he just keeps doing the same **** then he’s kinda digging the players out by hooking them halftime etc I feel for the strikers they must be fuming. And the subs two 10’s on take the striker off then stick another striker on 20 mins later. Not great imo.

I wonder if Blackburn fans are wanting their manager replaced after being beaten by bottom team Sheff Wed............

Its not working though its just slowing the play and bottling things up.
The wingers have no support and to make things worse exposes the full back position
We were much better last season with overlapping fullbacks on both sides that stretched the defence

I didn’t say anything about everyone piling forward at the same time it’s about balance. How are both full backs going to bomb forward at the same time we only have one ball mate. And tbf we are constantly in trouble to the counter because we don’t have a shape.

So it's inevitable Maresca and mckenna get sacked this season?

Love our squad, think it's great having a team full of young, exuberant players but the way they are being deployed tactically is holding us back.

Mowbray did a fantastic job last season steadying the ship after Neil left and an even better one to get us into the playoffs despite a depleted squad. This season however I think we have been really poor. Where is the quick tempo, where are the sweeping moves like away at Reading and Huddersfield, where is the creative spark?

Today was poor, the last 2 months have been poor but we are still deploying the same tactics and expecting things to change. Burstow 1 touch in the opponents box, Mayenda 2 touches in the opponents box, Dack who played false 9 for a little while 1 touch in the opponents box.

It's nowhere near good enough and it doesn't seem like we are close to changing things.

No the defense swings to cover the overlapping full back. Depending on which wing is attacking. What the full back doesn't do is drift off into midfield leaving the back two exposed. It would work if we had a midfield that spotted danger and covered for Hume but thats really difficult. For me its just overcomplicating things for no benefit.

We also had Simms, Amad, Stewart and Gelhaedt up top to hold the ball up, stretch the play.

Neil also sat in as the DM, which allowed the fullbacks to bomb on.

Several times today Hume didn't push on when he could, is that tactics or him now following instruction? No one knows

Last year the cries of being "weak as piss l" in midfield where defeating, now when we try to keep it tighter it nullifies our attacking threat.

Its no win at the minute

I was happy with the team before kick off then 10 mins in you can see we’ve absolutely no shape at all he’s got players just drifting everywhere and it’s just basic **** and makes us so vulnerable. We’ve been made to look ****e by 3 of the worst teams in the league. It’s not good enough.

We have a fairly clear shape, what we don't have is the experience and possibly players to know when to sit and when to go

Or is Rooney on the verge of the sack after failing to beat the second bottom team at home
