If Gov't were serious then all the buildings they own and rent job centres, etc plus hospitals and schools would have solar panels fitted at least.

... possibly not - need to be aware of a nasty little Government sneak attack - if your employer offers both a company car and a cash allowance as an alternative (I.e for those who already have a car and don't need another) - you get taxed on the higher 'benefit' - if you go for the low/zero emissions option you will be taxed on the value of the cash allowance- even though you don't receive it ...

the uptake of wood burners in cities have prompted this as they are causing dangerous levels of particulates. I think in some areas they may have already banned owners putting new ones in though how in gods name they would enforce that is beyond me .

I just think like most of this, it's not a one size fits all. In new builds in cities, it makes no sense.

In a 160 year old cottage with no mains gas, and an existing woodburner, it makes sense to keep it there.

But yeah, like you say, no idea how they would enforce and monitor a ban. Would be proper big brother snooping stuff that. The wood burner detector man driving round in a van with an air monitor probe <laugh>

No what you are saying is what you always say without actually saying it, that you couldn't give a shhite about being green if it's going to cost you money or cramp your style, as you proved with your gas guzzler that time. Now I've no problem with that if someone is not a big hypocritical cry arse. Instead Mr Hippy expects nanny state to wipe his arse for him. You chose to live where you do, no one forced you to live there, it wasn't as though you was even brought up there - you knew what the place was made of and how it was heated, so stop your bleating bro. However, I'm sure Starmer will listen to you with a caring ear in 12 months time, or even he might say, on yer fooking bike son.

basically they are not "safe" in cities period due to the concentration of housing leading to area with very dangerous levels of particulates which we have known for decades to be very detrimental to humans .

You know what though mate, in the last few years I've watched politicians saying we shouldn't drive diesel cars, take flights, use wood burners, etc. The likes of you and me are shamed if we don't recycle our yoghurt pots and all the while big corporations to continue to pollute and degrade the environment and there's **** all done about it.

World leaders taking their private jets to climate change conferences to preach to the little people about how they should accept restrictions because they are the ones killing the planet. But your average Joe gets clobbered for driving his 10 year old Ford Mondeo into a city centre.

Like most of this ****, it's one rule for the rich and entitled who will be allowed to continue to live their lavish lifestyles with private jets, luxury yachts and mass consumer lifestyles, whilst the plebs get fined for chucking a couple of logs on the fire
