Could’ve been just some PR to say we were never in for him, and he simply chose Leeds over us. At the time Leeds had had a rocky start so they also may have made him a better offer out of desperation

Much like when Manning signed I have no expectations/hope for Stewart. Players who are 27 and never played above the Championship don’t excite me. Yeah Richie Lambert etc etc but he is overwhelmingly the outlier.

I’m not writing him off and hope he does well, I’m just also not expecting anything from him and wouldn’t be surprised if all our current strikers are better

My line up for Saturday would be
    Baz
    KWP - THB - Bedders - Bree
    Charles - Downes
Adarma - Stu - Edozie (SAA)
    Alcaraz

    Assuming Stewart is out again
Another 1-0 thrashing on its way

Not sure we can have that attitude now that we are in the Championship! I get your point though. It just seemed put of Piroe and Stewart, Piroe was obviously the better signing on the information available at the time.

Ross Stewart and Kamaldeen Sulemana both out for the rest of 2023. Both with hamstring injuries.

That’s a blow. Particularly Stewart as he’s been our hope for making us click more in the final third and being able to put games to bed. Sulemana hasn’t offered much tbh, and obviously we’ve been without Stewart all season anyway so in theory shouldn’t affect momentum too much. Edozie starts in place of Sulemana for me, he was looking good and was unfortunate to lose his place to Sulemana imo who I don’t think has offered any more. Keep Fraser as impact sub. Bring SAA back to the bench.

Be interesting to see how much better/worse we look attacking without Sulemana. He was constantly getting doubled in recent games meaning more space in the middle for our midfield when he did play it back to them rather than taking them on.

Not really that surprised about Stewart. It's pretty common after such aa long lay off to pick up muscle injuries on your return.

Indeed. Which is why I couldn't understand why we signed him in August. At the very least wait until January, to see how his recovery goes first. Or even better, sign someone who wasn't injured.

As for Sule, the AFCON starts on 13 January. So if gets called up, we might not see him again mid February.

He doesn’t seem like a sensible purchase as our only striker. We’ve needed striker for ages and Adams looks disinterested and out the door. If Leeds can sign Piroe surely we could have signed a fit striker.

Cue continuing statements about how we should have scored more

Means we have to defend well and look to others for goals. Come on Stu!

Hopefully more narrow wins than lost leads and narrow losses though

I always loved a toe-poke in 5 a side. It leaves the foot slightly earlier and with more pace than off the foot and catches keepers out
One of the guys I often played against used to say it was cheating o_O

On the other hand, AA has never succeeded above the Champ but is great here

I was just hoping Rod would provide something different and it wouldn’t be so bad if Che could fit our new way of playing, which it seems he can’t

We need another Champ quality No 9 in Jan, this issue has been going on far too long

Yeah I used to play up front in my younger days and scored a fair few toe pokes. Surprising amount of power can be generated without much backlift, and relatively accurate too.

Your whole body shape changes if you try to side-foot it, and a decent keeper will therefore see the shot coming.

KO 0400 our time so will see what’s occurred when we wake up at 0630

Cardiff are doing ok, so I assume they won’t park the bus which may work well for us
