Villa have been playing quite well so won't be easy, but your players, can take heart from the display v Man U, as ours did after the narrow loss to Man C.

maybe the MOTD highlights dont tell the full story but i'd dispute that, it was a good away performance from an experienced side, but not a match which united dominated from start to finish as you stated.

firstly, how did the winning goal come about? ruthless efficiency shown by united, you had to rely on a cock up from a swansea right back to nick the game. secondly, take a look at the chances swansea had, with more ruthless strikers they'd have scored at least one.

Well done to the Jacks, more than held their own I thought, regarding Manure I think they're going to struggle to finish in the top 4, not the team they were, midfield is definitely lacking they missed out big time by not talking directly to Rambo who would piss all over fletcher, take out Rooney and Vidic and they're gonna struggle

Yes, maybe those five minutes on MOTD didn't tell the full story. You could be onto something there.

Not wanting to be a 'stick in the mud' but try and keep level headed about the Man Utd game. We gave them a good run at OT but ultimately lost 2-0. Got all the credit, plaudits etc etc, the same at home to Arsenal on Saturday (god I wish we had played them a week before or after you did!) we played well (in patches) but Arsenal were by far the better team overall and could/should have battered us.

Both our teams have performed well, and probably better than most expected but neither of us are far away from the dreaded bottom 3 places.

I still fear for our survival because I am not convinced we are good enough, no matter how close we can run the big teams. I would urge you guys to be cautious until it is no longer possible to go down <ok>

I think you're spot on, it's a bit disturbing to see us so pedestrian at times. If it does come down to goal difference, and it's a very rare thing, we've no chance.
It's also a dangerous game to play to be seemingly happy with a one goal lead. City are in a great run of form but when it's time to turn the screw we'll see how they react. It'll be a proper season to the end at both ends of the table this term.

I tend to agree Thai, getting all the credit & plaudits is all well & good, but if they end in defeat they mean nothing.

Both of us have the most important games this weekend, then the weekend after etc. We are one defeat away from being closer to the bottom three. We need to take our chances and start hitting the back of the net more often. Trying to play our way out of defence sometimes needs a more heftier boot to get it away from the danger area. Support for when the widemen break down the flanks & cross the ball & there`s no one there. Get player(s) there in support to bang it home.

Villa will be a tough game and one that we need to win, otherwise we could well be drawn into a bottom three battle much too early. We need points now as the hardest part of the season is still to come.

    Just my opinion.

It was a good performance on Saturday but we need to take the chances when they come especially as good as one as we got on Saturday. Our defeats by both Arsenal and Man U both came from devensive errors which gifted a goal to the opposition. With a little luck we could have got a point in each of those games - but we must get more clinical up front.

of course we are still contenders for relegation thats why we must recruit strength and depth players in January. that will cost a few bob and i hope the board will give Brendan the funds to do that. The second half of the season will be much harder and if we dont get the balance right and get safe before the last two games then it will be certain relegation.......

This is often brought up, but why will it be harder than the first half? Now we've got to grips with this league, who's to say it won't be easier?

Let's have some reasons - a,b,c etc - Questions aren't aimed at Dai in particular, would be interested in anyone's opinion.

A couple of recent examples off the top of my head; Burnley and Blackpool.

Both started very well, looked like they'd adapted to the PL and then suddenly the results dried up and it went tits up. In the second half of the season most teams are fighting for something; the league, the top four, europe or to avoid relegation. It sharpens the focus and teams just get more determined and it get harder to get the results. New teams that were unknown quantities earlier in the season get looked upon as targets for results and get found out.

    Could be that.

On the other hand, you could do a Wigan and stay up and become part of the furniture. **** knows really.

It has always been that way, teams at the bottom recruit players they need and do better and teams like blackpool who had a great first half of the season but did nothing sank like a stone, everybody will have played each other and are better prepared when they face each other again and that is why brendan says he needs to bring in 4 players to have more strength and depth for the second half of the season.......its always been that way....

I think to be honest we have had a very tough start of the season, we have had injuries galore and dropped points where we should have gained some, I don't think we are in for a tougher second part of the season, well no more tough than what we have had, just keep plugging away at our game.

There's no doubt that Manu had a great escape on Saturday, and most of the media are talking of how Swansea (Rangel/Monk) shot themselves in the foot, but as for the rest of the season, I for one am very positive, you have to remember that it will take us half a season to adjust, and get to know the weaknesses of our opposition, the second half of this season will be Swansea's. Manu have got many gears have they? Well I didn't see them on Saturday, no did I see them at OT, when City pasted them! Don't make me laugh, this is not a strong Manu.................... <laugh>
