Good Morning. It's Thursday 30th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds keep pace with top two after early setback Leeds kept their unbeaten home record intact, but had to come from behind, to overcome a spirited Swansea City side last night at Elland Road With six wins and three draws so far, the Whites have the second best home form in the Championship (behind Ipswich Town), and the the only team yet to lose at home. They felt confident of extending that record, when Dan James netted after just 45 seconds. Unfortunately, his effort was ruled out for offside. Euphoria quickly turned to anguish when, 15 seconds later, Jamie Patterson put the visitors ahead with a delightful chip. Leeds weren't be be denied, and were level just a few minutes later, thanks mainly to Crysencio Summerville's surging run from halfway, and subsequent perfectly weighted through ball, which Piroe finished off in style. The away fans were incensed by their former heroes' celebrations, but that didn't bother the Dutchman. After wasting several chances, the Whites finally took the lead, deep into first half injury time. Rutter latched onto Ampadu's long range pass, (played just in front of his own penalty area), bringing the ball under his spell in one touch. He held off the challenge from Humphreys, before beating Rushworth at his near post. Rutter turned provider for Leeds third, with James smashing the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards to ruin any chance that his former club would stage an unlikely comeback. please log in to view this image Farke snaps back at Duff's assessment of the game In his post match presser, Leeds boss Daniel Farke was quick to disagree with Michael Duff's assessment of the game. The Jacks boss had just stated that the difference between the two sides was Leeds finishing, which Duff had called 'Premier League quality'. Farke took exception at this, claiming that Leeds were far more dominant during the game, and also pointed at the expected goals or XG (the stat that measures the quality of a chance by calculating the likelihood that it will be scored by using past data) was seven or eight times higher than Swansea's. "I'm not sure if we would agree. I think the difference was the way we create the chances. We created chances through the centre, over the wing out of counter attacks. Like I mentioned before, expected goals for us was seven or eight times as high as their expected goals was. "I didn't see too many saves from Meslier today and also not shots against the crossbar or post. I think we didn't allow them to have chances apart from this, yeah, we had the scene at the beginning of the of the game. "I think the difference was today that we created many, many chances. Yes, in terms of finishing we can definitely use our chance better. So efficiency is the topic we always speak about but yeah, also the way we scored the three goals was also outstanding. "Yeah, can't criticise my offensive players today too much in terms of the performance and also how they create a chances, also the way they scored the three goals. It was great today". please log in to view this image Spence on the comeback trail We can expect to see Djed Spence back in action over the 'upcoming weeks', according to Leeds Manager Daniel Farke. The exciting full back has been out of action for nine weeks after a freak knee injury, he sustained in training put him out of in training, back in September. He has resumed full training at Thorp Arch and will gradually be eased back into action. Luke Ayling was dropped from the squad last night, as Spence was named in Farke's 20 man squad. "Yes, it was no gift. Djed is 11 or 12 days in training and you can see him growing more or less from training session to training session. He also gained some fitness obviously after such a long-term injury and also after such a difficult pre-season for him so he can't be there with 100 per cent. "Today we got the feeling he deserves already to be in the squad because the last days and training he was quite on it and it was quite impressive for that we decided today to have Djed as an option also with us. "Yes, if he works that concentrated and focused, especially on this fitness level, because we don't have to talk about this potential and his quality, he has proved this on this level. "If you work further on that, focused and concentrated in training each and every day and also to gain more and more rhythm. Yes, also good chances in the upcoming weeks to be involved with game time." please log in to view this image
Morning all. Doesn't happen me often but I was otherwise occupied last night and only managed a couple of updates on phone. Saw the goals this morning. Four quality finishes. Awful result for Leicester too
I wish. I was slurping pints of Guinness at a pool tournament, Im about 30 years too old for this craic
Morning everyone as usual i had to rely on the highlights this morning. Should have been five goals to us or more. Summerville would usually bury at least one of his chances and James weak shot plus a header from Anthony and it's six. But uncle fester are faltering now and then and we are gaining. New year we have loan spaces and i would use one for a striker. Someone with lots of experience an old hand if you like. Bamford is shot and never was that good anyway. Boro sold us two duds.
Good win.. Swansea are competitive in most games even if their results haven't been stellar. Felt like we lost our way after the first 10 mins in the first half but the goal before half time was a obviously a great time to score and we were comfortable second half. Haven't checked back at the posts during the game but thought it was really poor of DJ to drift offside for the disallowed goal... he had great line of sight... 20 seconds later Struijk has a brain fart and we're 1 down. On another day it could have cost us.. but it didn't... so good result, well done boys.
Everton at risk of further points deduction this season If club are found to have breached spending rules in next set of accounts, action will be taken by end of May under changes brought in to speed up process
First half problems for Struijk, Ampadu and Kamara overcome in the 2nd half yet some including me thought some of our players were either too confident or undercooked. Struijk only just back from an op so decent excuse. When our midfield duo are underperforming FARKE needs to ring the changes and why the hell Bamford is still in the mix is a bit of a joke. With Spence being back Archie could replace Ampadu or Kamara and we even have Gruev who can too, so FARKE has options. Kamara so far is a bargain and Byram is a steal, but we can’t expect everyone to have a blinder eevery game and maybe Ampadu needs a rest
Afternoon guys, been a busy bee today but here are my observations on last night's events. (If anyone is interested). 1st half Swansea were really good. We looked terrible but it was mainly due to Swansea literally going man for man and pressing really high and with alot of energy. They figured out that sitting a man on Ampadu and Kamara when Meslier has the ball really nullifies our threat. We often had to go to our full backs and Summerville and James were also man marked. I think it surprised us a little after seeing most teams come with a low block (parking the bus wakey). We just didn't have the answer for periods of the game and that's why we were losing the ball too much. At the other end, our press seemed a little half hearted and less committed and Swansea had more time to play through us. Ampadu eventually figured this out and started looking longer with his passes to bypass the press as the Swansea defence started to really squeeze up the pitch. Fortunately one of those long passes found Georginio and we went in 2-1 up. 2nd half it was clear that we had a talking to from Farke as the energy levels increased and we did to Swansea what they did to us in the first half and the game went to us. It could be interesting going forward from here as it was clear that Swansea had some success before they tired. Maybe more teams might come to ER and have a go.
I thought we were by far the better team both halves, I certainly didn't think we were terrible. I felt Swansea played some decent football but they never troubled Meslier apart from the gifted goal, keeping them down to one shot on target until they managed a second in injury time has to be credited to our own defensive play Leeds United vs Swansea City - live score, predicted lineups and H2H stats. Agree with you. Was starting to get nervous because at times they seemed to control the ball better, however I can’t remember them creating too many good chances.
