Debatable. Do we give them back to the Turks, for example? Ottoman Empire was in charge when Elgin took (or bought) them. Then the UK government bought them off Elgin. It's a right mess.
I suppose you find who we took them/bought them off and give them back to them. Let them worry about it from then. They certainly aren’t ours.
To be fair, it’s not their fault. There are laws about care and private care operators charge extortionate rates and use dividends to avoid tax. Take 20% off private care fees / spend and we could all relax
"Michael Gove has apologised for a litany of “errors” made by UK ministers in their response to Covid-19. Gove’s comments add to the series of damaging testimony from former top officials and ministers about Britain’s response to the pandemic under Boris Johnson, prime minister between 2019 and 2022." 27th Nov 2023 Coronavirus: Boris Johnson claims ‘massive success’ despite England having highest excess death rate in Europe Andrew Woodcock Political Editor Thursday 30th July, 2020 https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-rate-england-covid-19-pandemic-a9645846.html
Good news about the new national park, to me anyway. Been waiting a while to see if it happens. Cotswolds would be a good choice.
I like the idea, of a new National Park, but definitely not the Cotswolds. We lived there and there's already plenty of money and tourists ... ... money needs to go to a neglected area to bring employment and facilities.
Boris Johnson is typical of bombastic and arrogant people who believe repeating the same ridiculous boast, over and over again, will fool all of the people all of the time.
It's becoming a recurring theme that the only person in government who seems to have any kind of handle on the whole picture is Gove.
I wonder how those who defended Hancock will be feeling about seeing their hero give evidence ... ... another proven liar who told everyone what to do, but didn't follow the rules himself. He'll be torn to pieces today.
A man in the position to dish the dirt on everyone. Stepping down as an MP, no chance of political redemption, so let's have the truth. Bundling all the blame up with a nice bow and sending it off with him absolutely guarantees we'll be back here again before too long. Staggering incompetence everywhere but in the front line. Hancock being **** does not give everyone else under him an excuse to be crap at their jobs. But of course the can't be arsed culture now rules this country.
Agreed - a perfect example being the PM at the time not arsed about going to some piffling Cobra meetings about an approaching imminent threat. A foreign sec not arsed about interrupting his hols as Afgan was evacuated.
You have to look down the chain of accountability as well as up if you're going to solve anything. Who's telling Hancock the pandemic stockpile is good and the plans are up to date and regularly refreshed, for him to then pass that wrong information upwards?
