This league is going to get tougher for all involved. I was like all, hacked off at HT but second half we got it across the line and 3 points. Those above us will see their advantage slip away I'm sure as we proceed through the season. As long as we're staying in the top 6 I'm happy because at some point there's going to be a much closer contest for all 6 places and especially top 3.

Very odd interview. Sounds like he feels the world has been out to get him and the team which isn’t the case.

    Either way, fantastic win.

Watching the game through beer googles helps. First half had me muttering expletives Mrs Jab didn't approve of. Second much better against a team who's low scoring games someone had posted about pre match. Could/should have scored more. Loaded rides again, rollin' rollin' rollin' keep those matches rollin' Loaded!

TBH Martin can say what he likes if he keeps winning games.

Excellent post RSS. ****ty media reporting regarding the HT booing. Yes, 100% for a ref who was desperate to show he was the star. Thought the same as you about our forward play & the ? over Stewart.

Yep that is where Nathan Twat Jones went wrong. You earn the right to be a bit of a twat as long as you actually win or go unbeaten.

EDIT: Oh and he is genuinely a total prick too. That didn't help.

He sounds like he a) definitely gives a ****, which is surely a good thing, and b) he's frustrated with what he sees as unjust criticism of a winning team, which is fair enough imo.

Reading through the recent posts on here and other media, you get the impression that we are on a ten game unbeaten run in spite of RM, it is probably an accident, down to the opposition having off days or were simply not good enough on the day? Is that logical?

I think some of our fans think we are too good for this league, which we clearly aren't or we wouldn't be in it. Nothing short of winning every game 3-1 will satisfy some supporters, which is completely unrealistic but when have football fans ever been realistic?

I put it down to the fact we have had a succession of poor Management appointments, the battle weary fans simply don't trust a new guy, It probably doesn't occur to them that actually backing him would be more appropriate? As for the Cardiff game, it is just another banana skin to be negotiated, A decent Referee (i.e. not a Bell end), a bit of good fortune and all of the selected players giving it all they have got, might just get us over the line

For some it may be so, those that every silver lining has a cloud. I'm seeing a work in progress with young players (happy 21st birthday Charlie) gaining experience and confidence. Ten games unbeaten and forth in one of the most competitive leagues there is not bad in my book. Not uncritical, of course room for improvement, let's get the GD in double figures and tighten up in defence, better get back Jack and do it again.

That's already happening TBF. I don't see much point bringing Stephens back right now. Baz is clearly happy with the back four he's got in front of him. Bednarek and THB have formed a good partnership and I see no reason to drop either for Stephens TBH.

I just wanted to get the reference to a Steely Dan track in. But realistically, given the number of games, Jack will have a big part to play as will Ross when fit and firing optimistically speaking that is.

Glad to get the win, but we have a persistent issue with dominating possession, yet not working the opposition keeper. If there was one position I would address in January, it would be left back. Bree is a good defender, but is lacking going forward because he`s right footed. Manning is defensively poor - and I haven`t seen any evidence of this awesome delivery he is supposed to have.

Actually, I think you are playing a little bit with the facts. Everybody here has said at some point or other (and in this very thread) that you cannot be disappointed with a ten game unbeaten streak. I can go find the evidence but you know it is true anyway so I won't.

The criticism is based on the fact we do not a) kill teams off, b) look like killing teams off, c) look capable of killing teams off, d) make any effort to kill teams off. That may not sound like much of a complaint but our favourite scoreline when we got promoted from League 1 and this league was 3-1. Not 2-1 or 1-0. 3-1. Because being ruthless is how you get promoted.

The second half against Huddersfield and the first half against Bristol were two of the worst halves of football I can remember watching. The fact we didn't lose those two halves by more than an aggregate of 1 was a luck and nothing else. We had no heart, no plan and no capacity within halves to change it.

That last point is critical. Good teams can get back in games they are struggling in without the manager's intervention. Great teams can turn it around and get on top. We are not capable of either. This system may not be to blame - and we definitely lack leaders - but there is a strong sense we are constantly playing in fear of making a mistake and not in the hope of creating a chance.

I don't need to win any game 3-1. I want to watch a game against a team we should beat and create decent chances in both halves, be competitive in both halves, and give me the sense the players can think for themselves without being remote controlled by RM.

I find it interesting how those who criticise the team get criticised by those who seem to think being a fan puts critique of the team beyond question. I have seen no criticism of those defending the team blindly against all critique...

This current squad may get us a chance of promotion, but not many of them would be Premier ready, SR will have to inport a number of better players in the next two Windows, within the restrictions of Fair Play constraints, it is not going to be an easy ride. Be ambitious but miracles take a while, the impossible, somewhat longer.

Absolutely. As I've said before, if Nathan Jones was winning and kept us up we would have loved his bizarre comments!

Only thing that really worried me about the Martin interview is that it suggested that he thinks he/the team should be completely immune to honest criticism because we won. It was pretty clear Bristol should have scored 2 (free header & 1 on 1), maybe even 3 (great save at the near post), in the first half but he said Baz hardly had a thing to do.

I am not averse to criticising, if I thought that it would serve any purpose, i.e. I would have replaced Kamel with Fraser, but then again I am not a Football Manager and that's why I never play FM e.t.c. !
