He lacks pace. But I wouldn't say he was 'caught out' on a regular basis. His ceiling probably is championship though, whereas Greaves and Jones could go higher IMHO.
I always believed the thing about both clubs needing to be in the same division but this user seems to think different, I’m going to trust Tan for now but it would be good to get some proper clarification from the club
What, like the vice chairman or some Gobshite on twatter? Worst case scenario, we make a healthy profit.
I thought all this shared ownership of players bollocks was banned by the FA? I know it happens in the rest of Europe but it’s not allowed here.
Think it's wishful thinking on the part of some villains. Still like to think he's their player. 0bvs if that's not the case then Tan has some explaining to do. But either way, he isn't going back for free on a thank you very much at the end of a loan like Morton and Delap probably will. Even if that bloke on twatter is right, we still double our money at the very least. Sometimes city fans really do look for a negative in a field of positives.
I don't think it's ever made sense that the Philogene buy back would only be active if we get promoted. That gives Villa very little benefit and doesn't really explain why they'd let us have him on a permanent for £5m. Suspect there must be more to it than that.
Maybe. But we'll double our money in the worst case, which is better for us than a loan. Vice chairman and Baz are pretty unequivocal about the buyback only activating in the same division though - which makes me wonder why so many are giving credence to a twitter account. Maybe we think it's too good to be true under those terms. But the birmingham mail also reported the same terms - so let's just wait and see. And worry about getting 10mil back on a 5 mil investment if and when it happens.
Also FFP. They needed funds to have a go at top 6 prem. Their hand was somewhat forced. Pretty sure they sold him to help fund another winger. So he wasn't really in their first team pecking order in August. Might have changed now, but we hold his registration. Their loss. He isn't on loan, it's not joint ownership. Until specific conditions are met he's our player. Just need to enjoy him whilst we can. Kids deffinitely going places though if he keeps this development going. Either with us or without us.
So in terms of progress. Satdee we would have lost a year ago. Today we'd have drawn 1 all. Rosenior out still from some quarters? Still no better than 14th? And why on earth are we sh*tting ourselves at losing Jaden, Morton and Delap in summer when the most important contract is the one negotiating from the dugout? We need some planning in place before we lose those players though. Unless we're promoted we won't be keeping Vinagre either. So january seems a good place to start for next year.
Archer is on a similar deal at Sheff Utd so doesn't surprise me, and I recall at the time discussing the fact he'd already have agreed terms with them if he were to return. It's why him joining us in the first place took absolutely ages. The issue about whether there's a buy-back regardless of our division concerns me though as that's contrary to what Tan has claimed, but as PLT said, makes far more sense than what Tan is claiming to have in place. If we were to only get 5m profit on him and still be in the Championship (as opposed to 10m upon promotion) it'd feel pretty tough to take.
Lets stop this **** about a 'deal ready to return'. An actual contract means **** all in the modern game. A proposed one less so. FACT is they left, signed terms elsewhere. You really think Jaden is going back to villa on a deal 'agreed in principle' before he made his name? Is he ****. It's highest bidder. When he moves it'll be on his terms. , not some sad villa twat on social media's. Grow a pair. Sleep tight. He's our asset. If he wants to go back to villa they'll need to offer better terms than anyone else. If they trigger whatever fee clause they have then I'm pretty sure others will match it and offer terms too if he's justified it on performances over an extended period. . And there's bugger all Villa can do to stop that. It's really that simple.
Nixon confirmed the way it works: https://www.sheffieldunited.news/ne...united-havent-signed-cameron-archer-just-yet/ Can't find the direct tweets from him but I recall them at the time and this article cites them with regards to Sheff Utd and Archer. Philogene is in a similar situation. He's already agreed terms to return to Villa, meaning if they trigger the buy back, he's going back there. The question just remains about what triggers the buy back clause and the value of that clause.
Doesn't any move depend on whether Jaden wants one? No one can force him to leave if HE doesn't want to if under contract here.
That's kind of my point. Everyone goes on about the fact we could sell him to a club who offers us a higher fee, but if he wants to go to Villa there's nothing we can do.
