Good Morning. It's Monday 27th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds lose ground on leaders after disappointing draw Leeds missed out on the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Leicester City, after a disappointing (and somewhat pitiful) performance against struggling Rotherham. The gulf of talent that separates the two sides is vast. If 'Whoscored' are to be believed, the Millers best player this season is Lee Peltier; a soon to be 37yo journeyman, judged no good enough for a struggling Leeds side almost a decade ago. Without the same kind of financial backing that their West Yorkshire neighbours enjoy, Rotherham have largely had to make do with freebies and loanee's. Leeds got off to the best possible start, after going ahead after just six minutes. Rutter sliced the hosts defence wide open with a sublime through ball, which Summerville dispatched in style; but, that's as good as it got all night!!! Having conceded five to Watford in their previous outing, Rotherham were desperate to stop the floodgates from bursting; and in an attempt to stem the bleeding, parked the bus. For all Leeds superiority, they failed to hurt the Championships most fragile defence, and were duly punished in first half stoppage time, when Hakeem Odoffin levelled. Leeds continued to push after the break, and can judge themselves unfortunate not to have won a penalty after James went down in the area. Similarly, Anthony had an effort ruled out for offside that looked incredibly close. At the other end, Cooper spared Leeds blushes after Nombe's effort had beaten Meslier at his near post, and would have won the game for the home side had it not been for his goal line clearance. please log in to view this image Bamford's days surely numbered Patrick Bamford's days are surely numbered, after another terrible performance on Friday night. In 25 minutes of game time, Bamford touched the ball six times. He completed one out of two passes, lost possession twice, and was responsible for having Jaidon Anthony's last gasp equaliser ruled out after straying offside (one of two times). He hasn't scored in nine substitute appearances this season, and if truth be known, doesn't look like scoring anytime soon. In fact, the one time England forward has found the back of the net only six times in over two and a half years. Whilst he has had to endure more than his fair share of niggles over the past few years, the 30yo has managed to remain injury free for the majority of this campaign (so far). It was expected that by dropping down to the Championship, and giving him a lighter work load (less minutes), that he would rediscover some form. Not only does this now seem unlikely, but when he is playing, he doesn't look interested. please log in to view this image
Morning all Point gained on Ipswich, Southampton never leapfrogged us and Peltier was lucky not to receive a red card and it was a definite penalty. The disallowed goal was borderline so I felt we were unfortunate not to take three points. We didn’t play as well as we can but back to back home games this week, a chance to put pressure on Ipswich and grind them down.
Morning all. The disappointing thing about the offside goal was Bamford actually took a step past the last defender in an attempt to see where Gnonto might put the cross when surely his first instinct should have been to stay onside. However we did look more threatening after the 3 changes on 70 mins and even more so when Anthony came on as well.
There'll probably be more points dropped this week as just can't see us winning both home games with Boro in particular looking tricky.
I also feel we need to concentrate on Ipswich, they’re the team occupying the spot we want. Chase down the team in front of you, it’s unrealistic to believe we can gain points on both in one game.
Disappointing result, yes unlucky with a few things but really need to wrap these games up. Need more clinical choices from Summerville and James. Best bit of biz in the summer was selling Tyler Roberts. Only played once this season for Birmingham as got injured first game of the season. He only played 18 times for QPR last season as he was injured and only played in 120 games since we bought him 6 years ago.
Morning all, Only had half an eye on the match Friday as I was busy wooing a female companion. Pleased I was tbh as I think my weekend would have been ruined if had watched the whole match.
