I’m sure most of you know Katie and her family are huge Leeds fans. At a time when women’s sport gets a hard time it would be well worth your while watching her fight from Saturday. Two boxers going for it flat out for ten rounds. We’re hugely proud of her over here and she reached new heights saturday. Highlights for anyone interested

I watched it live. A good scrap. I wonder if they'll have a trilogy. It's definitely time the women had 3 minute rounds. I heard recently that it was going to be considered.

Hearne wants a third fight next summer in Cooke park which would have 80k plus there. The stumbling block is he wants the Irish government to stump up part of the costs as he claims it’s a far more expensive venue to rent than comparable ones like Wembley

Great wee fighter. Hope I'm polite if I ever run into her. The kind of lass that you really couldn't arrive home with a burst open paypacket on a Friday night. :D

I know a few people who have worked with her and they say she is one of the most driven people they've ever met. Without her, women's boxing wouldn't be where it is without her driving it forward.

If the ref had scored the first round knockdown correctly, Taylor would have lost the fight with a 10-8 round so a third fight is almost given. I felt Cameron was unfortunate to lose. I’ve never seen such a clear knock down been given as a slip

Great fighter and really put women’s boxing on the map. Think she’s a multi weight champ too.

Kev what’s the view on your government right now seeing as they call most of you far right

Lots not to be happy with but economy is going great. Incidents in Dublin last week was a few dozen layabout thugs. Government far too soft on them. I’d lock them all up for five years and make them pay for all damage caused and looting. There will be a likely change of government next year and god knows what we’re gonna get with a dinner from influence. Politics seem to be broken worldwide

That was my first thought but I couldn’t work out how Taylor lost her balance from a jab… think Cameron might have stepped on her foot.

I felt it was a good solid jab that sent her backwards, feet together off balance. Not a strong enough punch to knock her out, but firm enough to put her on her backside. It was strange as Cameron never complained and Taylor didn’t point or complain to the ref that it was due to anything untoward.

The judges scoring was scandalous, one gave it a draw, one gave it 94-96 Taylor the third 92-98 Taylor, how two judges can differ by 6 rounds in a 10 round bout is bizarre.

Edit* Refs official explanation Taylor slipped.

With that and watching the replays, definitely wrong decision, it was a knockdown

Both good fighters though and great for women’s boxing

Yeh she definitely didnt slip. Fighters do get knocked down when off balance especially if their feet are square on at the time and it’s still considered an official knockdown… didn’t seem the case here though so it was a strange one… still think she trod on her foot, which would explain why she didn’t put her foot back to regain balance.

As for wide disparities in scoring? Happens in many fights particularly if the rounds are close. And obviously also happens regularly in favour of the promoters fighter <laugh>

Ringside who are pretty good at analysing and scoring fights had it 96-94 Taylor. They’re explanation on the wide range of scoring was the head cut from the clash of heads, saying it’s easy to score against a bloodied face and get caught up with the home fans cheering every punch on a close fight.

Rematch will be one to look forward too

yeh it’s a very subjective thing and all sorts of outside influences can impact on a judge no matter how subliminal it might be. It’s also often argued that by being ringside at different sides of the ring they sometimes get a very different perspective to each other and to those watching further back and on tv.

sometimes of course they’re just incompetent, corrupt or both <laugh>

    Ah got it now.

You like to see women scrapping like they're in the pub car park.
