TBH I'd say this approach is preferable to the one against Wolves, where Ange decided we had to play Dier as he was the only out-and-out first team CB available, only for the pragmatism to cost us due to not playing the football Ange expects Not the first time that's happened, I distinctly remember it being the case under Poch on a couple of occasions due to injures/suspensions It does still beg the question why we didn't call up somebody from the U18s to fill out a spot, though, given the U18s had the weekend off
We've lost Terry Venables one of my all time favourite managers. Lets play this for Terry. He loved attacking football too.
Absolutely no expectations. I have very few until Maddison and Micky are back and/or we strengthen in January. I just want to see the same effort levels as Chelsea. For me the plus we should focus on is Bentancur hopefully getting back to full strength. I'm also intrigued to see Kulu or Bryan operating as a 10. It isn't clear which it will be, but either option is a worthwhile experiment imo. I wanted Kulu shifted centrally as soon as Maddison got injured tbh so I hope it's him.
us and Man U have and wouldn't be that surprised to see others have . Edit : should have carried on reading before posting as see HBIC had already covered ManU
TBH the real story is Ange showing no fear in dropping Dier and Hojbjerg from the starting xi Time will tell if doing so will be seen as a masterstroke, a disaster, or somewhere inbetween
I love Ange's positive approach. That line up is potentially very exciting . No fear at Tottenham and the high risk is accepted. To Dare Is To Do.
I think that this will be a very long afternoon, its a very attacking side, but with a number of players on whom the jury remain very much out, if and its a big if Emerson, Lo Celso and Gil have a positive affect on the game we could win. But if they play as they have more often than not in a spurs shirt it will be a comfortable Villa win. C O Y S
I think "long afternoons" were watching us under Jose or Conte rely on Kane to take an early lead against the run of play then sit back for 85 minutes and attempt to defend it with keystone cops at the back. It was watching a car crash in extremely slow motion every single week. I can't see us getting anything out of this, but at the very least I expect to be entertained which, after all, is what sport is meant to be about (in between the VAR checks).
There is definitely a logic to this as I think the very faint hope is that we somehow click, catch Villa by surprise and then use Dier, Hojbjerg and Skipp to shut down the game.
From an outsider pov think Royal may well be better suited to playing CB than RB in a Postecoglu team
My worry is that both him and Porro have a tendency to lose runners off the blind shoulder. That flank could get quite messy.
