I would suggest that most (not all I admit) came with their own income and savings - so they weren’t a burden on the Spanish authorities. Spanish people sold them their houses too. This is a subject close to my heart because I want to retire there. The system is organised so that foreigners retiring there are not a burden and actually boost the economy.
R&W, you're doing it all wrong. Get to Gib illegally and be put up in a ensuite room, food in a 3star hotel.
Lots went there to escape extradition. Plus they may have sold the houses to the Brits, but that’s the same as what’s happening now but it’s the Brits selling their houses. What is ****ed up at the moment, is it’s one way. Before you had immigration but you also had migration. We’ve closed the borders alright, we’ve blocked the exit route.
Little different Shared culture not polar opposites Not going to disturb locals or traditions or misbehave The problem is, people come to this country and expect us to have their beliefs and culture having claimed they’ve escaped persecution because of it No ! It should be the other way round
at end of the transition period of Brexit ... was that not when the french stopped "being helpful" and restricted their co operation ? we started paying them vast sums to extra patrol the beach's but they didnt seem to and the gangs saw an opening and flooded the channe the trend seems to be 2 or 3 families buy a house ... a couple round here with about 7 or 8 adults and 6+ or more kids 1 -8? /9? years old 3 bedroom versions of semi detached 1 has camper van and a caravan in drive / toward back garden other than making parking difficult 3 cars 2 transits they are no trouble although a tad untidy!!!
I honestly don’t understand this. Someone attacking kids - absolutely awful. Rioting and pillaging - why???
R&W BBC News just now, the last few words covering the trouble last night were 'there have been protests recently about immigration'......said through clenched teeth. Went on to say the government are looking at longer sentences for rioters. Not a bloody word about a very possible cause, uncontrolled immigration. Leaders here and there are ostriches.
i dont think anybody has said any different. a large increase after years of increases from 2000!!! big impact, over in ireland they are having similar with largest influx of migrants in the republic’s history!! people want different. strong borders and immigration control.
raver said: ↑ Below is from the ONS. We can debate whether it was too high or not from 2000. What is not really up for debate is the large increase post Brexit The chart shows a dip in 2020 2021 the line 800,000 was covid so thaactual rise from bottom of that dip is shallower!? joining the the 2 points at 800k makes it look less alarming but the truth is june 22 would be somewhat higher
immigration needs to be driven down hard its damaging the lives of Britons steaming rents up in Bristol for instance and pushing wages down making it harder for our own to support themselves. UK should have a points system linked to necessary skills the country needs rather tn making big bucks for business. hatrd working care workers wages are a tenner an hour and companies and agencies are bringing in thousands to keep wages at a tenner ****ing people over here. how do people exist and support families here on wages like that?
Completely agree with you care workers should be paid more. Care agencies in the south west receive the highest payment nationally from local authorities, around £24 per hour. I suspect the care workers are lucky to get half that.
Anger against immigrants and immigration in the Irish Republic, particularly around Dublin, has been growing steadily over the last year or more
You would be correct. Bristol's biggest care providers pay £10 -11 an hour. Bristol City council and social services buy services from care providers at a rate linked to the minimum wage. BCC doesn't purchase care from agencies, The care providers do to fill their understaffing because they cant fill staff roles on £10 -11 an hour. There is a decade upon decade cycle on continued downward pressure on wages, taking from those who have less in the first place. This cycle and excuse the term, migrant labour is used to keep those costs down helping to perpetuate low wages and unattractive conditions that create employment the overwhelming majority of the populace can't do because their lives would suffer from pay so low. Typo = BCC.
A council run home near me [ shut now and replaced ] used to have staffing problems not with wages but getting the correct paper sorted for suitability.. 3 people were waiting for over 4 - 5 month's ... in the mean time agency workers were employed. 2 staff and all 3 applicants withdrew their Labour when they found out that one of the agency people had only been in the country for 4 / 5 weeks and it turned out that another one who had been doing shifts there about 8 weeks so no police checks etc!
At yesterdays antisemitism rally Tommy Robinson was arrested by thirty police officers, pepper sprayed and has been charged with failing to comply with a Section 35 order. His crime appeared to be peacefully eating a breakfast in a cafe. His bail states he cannot travel to London, or attend any political demonstrations, He has been bailed till January and no doubt his case will be adjourned, and he will again have his bail conditions renewed and again and ..
