Good Morning. It's Thursday 23rd November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Betis open talks about cut price Roca deal

Real Betis have opened talks with Leeds in a bid to make Marc Roca's loan move permanent.

The defensive midfielder has become an instant hit at the Benito Villamarín Stadium. Betis have one of the most stubborn defences in La Liga this season, and are just a point shy of 6th place and European football again next season. Roca has already netted three times, and has become one of the first names on Manuel Pellegrini's team sheets.

According to Football-Espana, the Seville based outfit are hoping to sign Roca for a reduced fee, by including a sell-on clause. Leeds paid Bayern Munich just under £11m and should be looking to make a half decent profit given how he is performing this season. Roca is contracted until the Summer of 2026, and at 26yo, has longevity on his side.

It was high time that Leeds began doing the sensible thing

Daniel Farke has both the personality and the nerve to cope with the trials and tribulations of a club the size of Leeds - thats the opinion of Elland Road journalist Phil Hay!

The former Chief Football Writer for the YEP believes that Farke was a sensible choice, and compared the German to Bielsa as far as this authority, both on and off the pitch. Hay also praised Leeds Summer recruitment, naming Joel Piroe, Ethan Ampadu and Glen Kamara as assets for the club.

"Farke has been a savvy choice as manager at Leeds. He was a sensible pick based on his track record — and it was high time that Leeds began doing the sensible thing.

"But there’s more to it than his history. Farke has the personality and the nerve to cope with a club like Leeds, who eat coaches for breakfast. The dressing room feels nicely disciplined and the players have properly got to grips with the tactical plan. Marcelo Bielsa demonstrated aptly that one thing Leeds need is a coach with very strong authority, on and off the pitch.

"Beyond that, the club’s recruitment was good and the budget was there to give them an edge. They invested in players who either had proven ability in the Championship, such as Joel Piroe, or players whose history strongly indicated that they would be assets — Ethan Ampadu and Glen Kamara are two examples."

Do other clubs see Leeds as a soft touch

When looking back at past mistakes Leeds have made in the boardroom, it's easy to understand why other clubs may see Leeds as a soft touch.

Whether it be the £1m transfer fee of Eric Cantona to bitter rivals Manchester Utd or getting stung for £45m for Jean-Kevin Augustin, the sheer levels of incompetency runs deep to the core at Elland Road.

The likes of Marc Roca, Max Wober and Jack Harrison have become essential to the success of their new clubs. Even though they are all tied down to long term contracts, their temporary employers still believe they can negotiate closing down sale prices!

Do other clubs look at Leeds and believe they can grab themselves a bargain?

Farke was an inspired choice. If dick dastardly and mutley were still running the club, God knows what buffoon would be coach now. Will be interesting to watch his input in the January transfer window and none of this crap please that well only sign players that are better than what we have. There will be better than Bamford, Firpo and Cooper available, Im 100% sure of that

Got to say (surprisingly enough) the 49'rs aren't doing a bad job either, i actually feel the club are in safe hands for the foreseeable , and i am not used to that at all.
    Good morning everyone.

    Afternoon all

Roca sold for the going rate or we’ll sell him to a competitor, that should be the message.

I’m sure there is better than Bamford, but they’ll not sign and be second choice sitting on the bench

Get rid of Bamford and stick Mateo Joseph on the bench. Lots of pace and a decent finisher. Yes ok it’s at u21 level but it’s a way of easing him into the first team setup.

Wages are a lot less and takes a better penalty (obviously)

Afternoon and i believe you are wrong. Players will come to sit on the bench for increased wages. The days of ambition and loyalty are long gone in football.

Sadly him and Gelhardt are not as good as Bamford in overall play so they will be sold.

Unfortunately there is no club stupid enough in the world that would take Bamford with all his failings and laughable salary

Unfortunately his overall play is useless when he is a virtual resident on the treatment table :emoticon-0114-dull:

Apparently his movement on the treatment table is sublime.

If they are not confident in their own ability to get into the first team then I don’t want to sign them.

On Roca, suggest the club should fix their price, say £12m or whatever, with a handsome sell on clause or say he’s available on loan for 12 months for £5m. Indicate there will be no negotiation. Yes it’s hardball, and we might not get them to bite, but presumably if he’s playing that well, somebody else might.

Problem is that if we don't go up, then it's written in his contract that he can go out on loan for next to nothing next season. We can only play hardball if we go up.

So as much as fans like the Championship, it really is a must to get up this season.

Noooooo. We’re fine where we are. We’re all enjoying it aren’t we. Why would anyone want to go back to being stuffed every week. What did we concede each of last two seasons. About 75 goals per season

Because there's a decent enough chance we'll end up financially ****ed if we don't go up and end up back in league 1.

How about we go up, pay all of the JKA and the "loan superstars" debt off with the PL money and then come back down. Would that do? I don't think alot of fans realise that we are in a tough spot financially in a couple of years. By tough spot I mean points deductions and stuff again.
