Hunt is not increasing departmental budgets, meaning that money will not be available to improve services, in fact may make more cuts likely. This will save him about £19BN, which is the same sum that he is giving away. It is all sleight of hand stuff.

    Don't hold your breath!

Speaking in a pre-recorded interview on Peston, which airs on ITV1 at 10.45pm today, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt MP admitted his new measures for growth would take a long time to kick in.

“The supply side measures, the measures that will boost investment in the economy by businesses, which is the way we get productivity, salaries, living standards up, they will take a decade to happen.”

Sounds amazing. A decade before that's sorted and another 27 years before those amazing Brexit Benefits kick in. Looking forward to everything being amazing by the time I'm 65!

I'll be long gone. 17-20 at most. Mind you, the way things are going, I do wonder how long any of us have got!

    What a bunch of numpties.

On the day that they announce there will be no levelling up funds for Northern Ireland, they do this - and, to add to the insult, they organise a display of Scottish Highland dancing...<doh>

It's quite a while since I studied Greek at school and I've forgotten the bulk of it - but I think I still get the gist of this...

So the latest from the government says that if for any reason cologne had to go back to the UK to live, he would have to have a job that paid a minimum of £38,700 if he wanted his wife to live with him. To my mind, this is no way to treat a British citizen (cologne) or any others who find themselves in that position.

The chances of me ever living in the UK again are very slim Frenchie but I get your jist. I go under the assumption that anywhere my wife isn't welcome then neither am I and haven't been back since my Dad's funeral which was just before the Brexit referendum.

This is the US government assessment of Rwanda in 2021.

Significant human rights issues included credible reports of: unlawful or arbitrary killings by the government; forced disappearance by the government; torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government; harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary detention; political prisoners or detainees; politically motivated reprisals against individuals located outside the country, including killings, kidnappings, and violence; arbitrary or unlawful interference with privacy; serious restrictions on free expression and media, including threats of violence against journalists, unjustified arrests or prosecutions of journalists, and censorship; serious restrictions on internet freedom; substantial interference with the rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of association, including overly restrictive laws on the organization, funding, or operation of nongovernmental and civil society organizations; serious and unreasonable restrictions on political participation; and serious government restrictions on or harassment of domestic and international human rights organizations.

With this available to the UK government, they must be asking everyone to stop thinking, and accept it is a safe country. And now it has been revealed that taxpayers' money, another £100M, has been handed over to Paul Kagame who will no doubt be laughing his socks off as he heads to his bank. I am sure he will keep smiling as he finds out that another £50M will be coming his way in 2024.

The NHS is short of 9000 doctors.
Michael Essouma, the doctor from Cameroon who took his own life on the Bibby Stockholm yesterday, had published 32 peer-reviewed research papers.
Imagine what he could have given the NHS, the country.
    What a desperate, heartbreaking waste.
