I have to say these videos are invaluable to me. As a fanatic I'm incapable of watching a live game in an analytical way. I'm totally simplistic and just shout a lot and go nuts when we score. It's only if I've been failing to see why a player is being regularly praised/criticised, for reasons I don't understand, that I'll take time to watch them specifically. Having said that I'm pleased this lad could see the sense in Ba coming on while we planned the next stage. He's nowhere near the finished article but he's a workey ticket who'll get the ball away from our defence and into the final third ... it's incredible how quickly we're transforming these kids into good players, it's only injuries that's held us back.
I'm a bit like you Smug when watching the lads on the Tele, I kick every ball, can't sit still and give our lass a heart attack every time we score. Enjoy watching the after match vids in a calm fashion which allows me to ' see the match' without the rose coloured glasses on.
I often go to the games with mates, sometimes at the SOL when I go in with their spare SC ... ... but I never sit with them because I'd hate to impose my rants and raucous behaviour on them I tend to 'walk the earth' and move from one end of the ground to the other, if I get too many tut-tuts and rolly eyes I'll move on again.
Watched our 90 mins last night, and still dont get the first substitution but the second and third were spot on and 2 out of 3 ain't so bad. But the real excitement for me is that we can, and will get even better. The talent that was brought in last window, at first looked like a step backwards, but now looks anything but. what a sqaud we have now, all being equal anything is possible. OaU
There's always the possibility that the squad has injuries and suspensions or that Mowbray tries something that doesn't quite work ... ... but, my word, if this squad really clicks we're in for an exciting season. Boro showed, last season, that after a slow start it can suddenly all come together. And I'd say we have a much better team, certainly squad, than they did. There's been the odd half an hour when we've been unplayable and that was before Aouchiche, Rusyn and Mayenda emerged. We managed a whole 90 minutes against Southampton. Can't wait for Plymouth.
Having been on this board since 2011 I sometimes have to pinch myself reading all this positivity about my/our club. So many are delighted with this squad of ours, yes there's a few still need convincing but that's ok, this is football after all and opinions help keep it a good lively board. What I don't like is these bloody international breaks which give me far too much time to talk about my magnificent football club, so bring on the Argyle and let's get back to winning more games HTL.
I've been hoping, for a year, that he'll become the Evans replacement ... ... and I'm just picking up on a sense that Mowbray is thinking that way.
I do think he’s capable. Massive player for us now, comfortable on both sides at full back and didn’t do much wrong covering centre half. Great find.
Me too mate think him bombing on past roberts gives other another exciting outlet, will make us so less predictable too
If Pembele gets going and is as talented as described, opposition left backs are going to need trauma therapy after facing him and Roberts.
Just watched this back due to the lack of decent football on this week - who can't get excited about watching football like that? Can't wait for Saturday!!!!
Wow. Hadn’t even thought about what he said at the end of the video. Finished the game with Niall Huggins as our oldest outfield player…. At 22. And that’s the football we play!! Good time to be a SAFC fan
I've not come on to have a dig, just to agree with you. So here's the bit that looks like a dig ... we often see people saying we've ground out a win, or whatever, which imo ignores the long periods when we rip down the wings, get into the box and play some outrageous football. I understand their opinion but struggle to agree with it. It seems we've soon forgotten the recent dull practical football we played under Johnson, etc. That's fair enough, it's always the way and the reason why supporters are never happy with 'a team that just competes' ... ... they want to win and keep winning
There are times when we need to grind out a win, we can't play the great brand of flowing football we play all the time and it also shows (for me anyways) how good a team we are when we can win when we are not on top form. Just watching that video got me feeling like I did when I first started watching Sunderland in the 80s and when we played under Reid - I just can't wait to watch the next game. It beats watching them as part of a routine on a Saturday afternoon when we were struggling in the prem and the years after until recently
