What a fab assist for Tyler, long through ball for Elliott to score the 3rd. A great night for young Morton, first Eng goal, great assist, showing the seniors how it’s done! Obviously well drilled & trained at City! UTT.
Morton speaketh like ... https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/...elder-looking-forward-to-goodison-park-clash/
“It’s a lot easier for me, I get a lot more freedom. I like to drift a bit wider and get on the ball. It’s brilliant and I need it for my development. It’s different at Hull where I have to stay central and stay in a certain spot, so it’s brilliant for my development.”
Going to be gutting when we lose them at the end of the season......even if we do manage to go up, Citeh and Liverpool would be after over 20m a piece for them.
Just watched the game, Morton is quality, he is likely to find his way into Liverpool's first team, and join Elliot there. I would love to keep him, but fear he is just too good and hence too expensive, but one never knows in football. Let's enjoy him, a perfect replacement for Seri when he bows out, so we can dream of that scenario.
Something that irritates me a bit in modern football is that it seems like as soon as a loan player joins a club, the debate about his long-term future starts. It's like we struggle to ever switch off from transfer matters and focus on the here and now. Surely his future will depend largely on how he does for the rest of the season, and where we end up also. Same with Delap and any other loanees. I don't think City or their parent clubs will worry about it until towards the end of the season.
The parent clubs absolutely do have plans, as they do with all young players both clubs want those players playing in the prem next season.
If Seri was ever injured or unavailable I think Morton could easily be his replacement his vision and first time passing are a joy to watch.
I'm sure they want them there but if he was to start struggling and end the season not playing then he wouldn't be getting a PL move next season. Or on the flip side he could win us the title single handedly and show he's good enough for Liverpool's first team and then he wouldn't go out on loan at all. So there's no point deciding now where he's going to be next season.
