This. There's a tiny record shop in Hicnkley that I go to a lot, full of hidden gems. Bought an original Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures vinyl from there!

my vinyl collection took years to build up and me being a bit anal i replaced it with cd well 98% of it and then again with mp3 my spare room is swamped with records and cd's :) it's the one thing i'll never get rid of is my music don't even lend it out i'd rather make someone a copy and give them it than lend it

    skalpel shame about that store

remember years ago once a month on a saturday there used to be a record fair in newcastle don't know if that's still going doubt it though

That'd be worth a fair wack in a few years Id imagine, especially if its the first edition.

It'd be worth a fair wack now if it was in better condition when I found it!

I managed to find an original 'In the Land of Grey & Pink' for a tenner once, bit the guy's hand off - I don't think he realised how much he could have sold it for. It's one of my prized posessions now; also ****ing disgusted that that cretin Steve Wilson couldn't keep his horrible mits off it and went and remastered it for 5.1. Who ****ing cares you sad old bellend, stop defecating all over old masterpieces with your own hideous production.

Haha, I used to say the same about Guernsey, grass is always greener and all that. But after alot of travelling I realised I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

You'd miss the place if you moved, go on admit it! ;)

I'd miss it sadly, where I grew up so it will always have fond memories.

Anyone who likes Burial, I came across a great interview with him here

He seems like a really interesting guy, in another interview with the Guardian he spoke about how his mates have played his tunes in front of him, not knowing he's actually Burial <laugh>

What's everybody's favourite record they own then? I don't mean favourite because it's got the best music (because that would be impossible) moreso favourite for sentimental reasons or because the cover looks amazing or because its rare or something.

hard question as there are so many that evoke memories and the like so forgive the multi choice answer but i'll explain the reasons

Groundhogs - split -first acid trip i ever took and that album blew my mind.

Stranglers - Rattus Norvegicus - brings back memories from being a teenager and having a great time with my mates and generally pissing about like you do.

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here - actually hate this album now when we were kids a few of us used to crash at my flat drink, smoke and listen to tunes had a mental mate who would always ask for this to be played and loved it the reason i hate it was he died aged 17 from a motorbike accident and it makes me cry when i hear it.still put it on,on the anniversary and raise a glass or two to him (did it on here the other day)

Nick Cave -into my arms -was played at my wedding

and a load more i don't really want to bore you with, soz about the rambling post but like i said i find it hard to pick one over others too many good, bad and indifferent memories can come from music ..that's what i love about it :)

I got this LP a while back, I'd never even heard of the band before and it's ****ing class. Among the top 20 records I own at least. You can pick it up here http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=870806&ev=rb
