Brentford are the embodiment of mixed bag this season. They are W4 D4 L4

Won't be an easy place to go to, but hopefully we'll have enough to beat them

Anybody know if Odegaard will be back ?

Yeah, all reports are that he's expected to be fit for that game - which will be a huge boost.

However, Martinelli, Jesus and Gabriel play at half-past midnight tonight against Argentina which will undoubtedly be a fiery game (fingers crossed no injuries in that one). They won't get back to London until late on Wednesday - meaning they only have 2 full days of training before the Brentford game. Can't say I'm too optimistic that they'll all be fresh and ready for the weekend. Just have to hope for the best.

Ok so Gabriel, Martinelli and Jesus all came out of that bloodbath against Argentina last night relatively unscathed, so that’s good news - just have to hope they’re ready in time for the Brentford game because there’s not a lot of turnaround.

I like that team to be fair. Interested to see how Trossard does in midfield.

18 minutes gone, feels like we've not really got going yet. Brentford pressing well.

Ramsdale's had an extremely nervous start and is fortunate that Rice cleared Mbuemo's shot off the line because he was going to get pelters for that error. Hopefully we can get a goal soon to relax things over and not give Brentford too much encouragement otherwise Ramsdale is going to get targeted.

Starting to get some nice rhythm in possession, but again, we're not passing with any real intensity or speed. Brentford are well organised, but the reason why they look so solid is because we're not passing with enough speed or intricacy. Brentford are sitting deep. We need to stretch them better.

Trossard scores a goal, but I think it'll get ruled out.

Yeah, it was a tight decision, but it was offside. Annoying, but at least we played better football in that phase.

If Jesus scored from the initial chance like he should have, this wouldn't have mattered. Argh.

    HT. 0-0.

Weird half. Got better in the final 10-15 minutes, but there's been some really weird mistakes. Ramsdale is exuding some nervous energy that is transmitting through to the rest of the defence.

Need to shoot from range and play more incisive passing. It's still too static and cumbersome. We don't do enough to shift players out of position.

This is a horrible game. I can never trust us to perform after an international break.

Zinchenko clears off the line from Maupay. My god, this is just an utter disasterclass. Not exactly giving me confidence we’ll contend for the league.

    FT. 0-1.

Horrible performance, but doesn’t matter now. Defensively, we were decent, but in all other facets, it was just too laborious and cumbersome. Good away win though against a difficult side.

Havertz with his most valuable contribution to Arsenal yet. Let’s hope he (and we) kick on from this now.

    <ok>

Just wanted to say something about Nketiah - that cameo was incredibly selfish. There was a 4 v 1 and instead of passing to a player in a better position, he then took a really tepid shot that wasted a huge (and rare) attacking opportunity. Ridiculous decision-making.
