    let me translate that

pep had a vital.game after international break and saw the timing of the game.

he's pulled every player he can out of internationals and had others fake knocks to come home and will be prepping for the full week for the game with a fully fit squad.

Everton punishment doesn't fit crime' - mayor Rotheram

Merseyside Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram has written to the Premier League saying Everton's 10-point punishment 'doesn't fit the crime'.

The Toffees were handed the point deduction last week for financial rules breach.

"While I understand and support the importance of upholding the integrity of the sport, it is crucial to ensure that measures are proportionate," he said.

"I do not believe that this punishment fits the crime."

Another person who should read the actual rules before sticking his beak in.

I blame the media for this personally.

FFP has not set out to allow clubs to target a 105mil lose over 3 years.

That would be idiocy yet that is how the paper and media report it and how the Everton punishment is being discussed. (they are only 20mil above why so harsh??)

FFP is actually designed to stop clubs losing ANY money over 3 years. "Do not spend more money than they earn" not "do not spend 105mil more than they earn"

If you run up debts over the 3 years you are actually in breach. If you run up more than 105million you are in SEVERE breach. do we see the difference?

Everton are in SEVERE breach of FFP and punished accordingly.

If the debt ran up is between 15 and 105million then the clubs owners can put money in to cover them. This is actually really lax compared to uefa rules. Uefa levels are 5mil losses max and up to 30 can be covered by the owners on once off basis. any more and you are in SEVERE breach.

Why do we think city have been faking revenue for so long? they have seen the rules and know making up a massive revenue (worlds biggest revenues but no fans) means they cannot make a loss.

Tthe Premier League’s financial policy states that any club failing to meet the financial requirements set by the league could face severe penalties as well as point deduction. If you lose 100million you should face a fine.
    Punishments
    • Suspension from playing games
    • Points deduction
    • Ordered to replay matches
    • Expulsion from the league
    • Compensation
    • Cancel or refuse player registrations
    • Conditional punishment
    • Fines
    • Make such other order as it sees fit

Again everton are not in a little minor breach, they are in severe breach. They are luckly they are not expected from the league, totld to pay massive componsation to anyone (those clubs are suing) not seeing players registrations cancelled), a transfer ban etc.

I just want to drop this here now This is the available Profit and loss accounts for the last 3 seasons

    # Club 2019/20 2020/21 2021/22 3-Year P/L
    1 Liverpool -£9.5m £69.1m £7.5m £67.1m
    2 Sheffield United £19m £9.6m £17.7m £46.3m
    3 Burnley £0.5m £0.2m £31.2m £31.9m
    4 West Ham £22.1m -£8.6m £12.3m £25.8m
    5 Tottenham -£83.8m £70m £16m £2.2m
    6 Man City £2.4m -£44.6m £41.7m -£0.5m
    7 Luton Town £3m -£1.9m -£5.9m -£4.8m
    8 Newcastle -£26m £77.4m -£70.7m -£19.3m
    9 Brentford -£10.3m -£53.2m £25.1m -£38.4m
    10 Nottingham Forest -£15.9m -£15.5m -£45.6m -£77m
    11 Bournemouth -£60.1m £17m -£55.5m -£98.6m
    12 Arsenal -£73.7m £3.3m -£45m -£115.4m
    13 Wolves -£21.1m -£112.1m -£19m -£152.2m
    14 Crystal Palace -£58m -£75.7m -£24.2m -£157.9m
    15 Brighton -£67m -£117.5m £24.1m -£160.4m
    16 Fulham -£45.2m -£57.9m -£94.4m -£197.5m
    17 Man United -£92.9m -£93.9m -£115.5m -£302.3m
    18 Aston Villa -£32.1m -£274.9m £0.4m -£306.6m
    19 Chelsea -£145.6m -£142.1m -£121.3m -£409m
    20 Everton -£120.9m -£354.8m -£44.7m -£520.4m

what I want to know is where are the charges on all of these other clubs? I can only assume some of these have transfers and covid losses that take the raw numbers down to less than 105million but look at Utd, villa, chelsea. where are their points deductions?

then look at man city sitting smugly on a cushion of fake revenues. 0.5mil loss over 3 years. LOL

We need to be very careful when calling for transfers as the "scope of ffp would allow it"

the new UEfa rules about spending 70% of total revenue are going to again be a total clusterfuck for clubs. City will continue to fake revenues to keep spending while clubs in europe anre hamstrung compared to clubs like chelsea.

I think when pundits and people like Rotherham, who have a platform, speak out about the perceived severity of the punishment, they have city and Chelsea in mind.

Speed reading the summary of the Everton case, the one thing that stood out to me was the repeated use of 'not acted in good faith'. We can all guess what that was a synonym for. If you break the rules, there are consequences. Everton continued spending like a drunken sailor despite several warnings from the PL. I don't think they took them seriously because they too probably had city and Chelsea in mind and how they are getting away with financial mismanagement and thought the risk was worth it.

The first to be punished always looks worse than it is but that's providing, of course, that they are the first of many. It seems contradictory to say that clubs should be clamped down on and then complain when they are.

but everton didn't act in good faith. they first claim to be in compliance via a series of schemes and then finally admitted it to the independent panel bit put forth a series of excuses and what ifs to explain how unlucky they were due to covid.

they spent money they didn't have even knowing about covid and then sought to claim they lost sponsors or transfers thrley never had a right to to show they might have complied if only.

imo that's not acting in good faith.

imo you.might will be right that Everton looked at city and Chelsea and tho8ght creative accounting and threats of the law courts would be fine.

they are now threatening the courts and putting out stories of a likely reduction.

if anything they should get 5 points more for threatening the courts.

Hopefully they all get punished. Unfortunately, if they're all charged at the same time with points deductions then it dilutes the punishment. Great for the rule obliging sides that particular season though

    That's what JB said.

Imo any appeal should be summarily thrown out, and even, as you say, incur further punishment.
Any reduction of the punishment will only serve to encourage others to try it on. They need to be shown that dragging it out isn't an option.

You didn't need to start your comment with "but" because that makes it seem like I was suggesting they did act in good faith, which I wasn't.

If the clubs who have reportedly made moves to sue Everton for £300m, do sue and are successful, then Everton will likely go into administration which will be a further 9 points deduction.

Sure, I just thought it read that way.

Everton will hold that other part up for years and years. those clubs will never ever prove that Everton gained a 2 point advantage out of their antics. If anything they lost points through rank signings and they could claim their own incompetence was all that put them near the relegation zone :LOL

Unless I'm misinterpreting it, they don't have to prove that they gained 2 points just that the points deduction should have been applied in the relevant season and those teams wouldn't have been relegated.

Rightly so. Can’t suspend a guy with no pay for 3 years after he’s been found innocent and not expect him to want some money.

England losing to North Macedonia. The Rico Lewis penalty was embarrassing by VAR but Slabhead is very lucky that he didn’t give one away earlier.
