Got the majority of the kids sorted over the weekend. Mrs Chief went off to do some physically, I do the on line stuff. Just have to sort an Xbox S series for my middle un, his Xbox One been playing up lately. Might buy a refurb, but new is a pretty good deal at the mo. My eldest is going on a pre Christmas ski trip with 6th form, so he's only having a couple of new bits of clobber, and he gets the old Xbox One for his room! (might also buy him that book Luv bought) Just have my Mum and Mrs Chief to sort. The main planning and expense will be all the food and drink. Got twelve for Christmas day this year. Haven't managed to win a Turkey yet.
I'm getting there now, even done some wrapping. I get everything done before Christmas Eve so that I can chill, just have to do the cooking I'm doing 4 meals then it's out for the rest or takeaway. Leg of lamb Beef bourguignon Turkey dinner Ham Breakfasts Bubble and squeak (depending on leftover veg) Kedgeree
Just got the oldest an iPad. Can’t believe I spent that much on one gift, pile will look small this year.
All our kids have a had a tablet of some sort of the years and not one of them ever uses them, ever. They just use their phones. Tablets/pads a complete waste imho. I was given a really good Samsung one with work and I also only really need to use my phone! Or my laptop, I bypass the tablet.
To be fair she likes to draw and has a little pen thing for a laptop that lets her draw on a digitiser thing, not great and the iPad apps for paint shop etc are great. plus got her the MS word app and a keyboard, so can use for her school stuff as that increases on IT type stuff. so cheaper than a laptop in the longer run….no doubt that will be on next years list.
yea tablets are a waste of time once a kid has a phone. Especially with the size of the phones nowadays. I find tablets are mainly for kids under 10 (who don't have a phone)
I agree, the tablet I have is used as a portable TV for the kids when we go on holiday and that's it.
ah, if she's into digital art and stuff then that makes sense. saying that my wife got one with the pen and all sorts, enjoyed the fad for like 2 weeks and hasnt touched it since lol. But then again she works so she doesn't have that much free time which i'm guessing your daughter will have in abundance
If not then I will snaffle and use for work/notes and designs in the apps. better than freehand sketching concepts or trying to use MS whiteboard and the silly digitiser thing.
Of the 12 coming to ours , seven are in laws for me. Her parents and then her brother, misery 'wife', and their two kids. One of the boys is an absolute hoot (takes after his dad) the other is a bit of a strange one (after his mother). So it should be down her parents this year tbh, but I don't mind it being at ours. What I do mind is my 'sister' in law pushing her food round the plate with a face like a slapped arse. Christmas Eve will be down theirs this year, and the benefit to that is that usually we can't get rid of them to try to get the kids off to bed. This year I can just go home! No doubt my kids and nephews will want to be at ours on the Xbox, so am more in control of when I can **** off from down there. Boxing day is always at theirs. My Mum arrives for a couple of nights on the 28th, we'll go out one of those evenings and stay in the other.
Walked past a cex today mate Series x boxed with a controller 390 with 24 month warranty. Bargain that i paid 460 laat xmas for the same
We'll have 7 which is manageable, just the 2 outlaws tagging along. The father in law best be on good behaviour this year after his one off where nothing was good enough for him.
Probably worth the extra investment IF games like GTA keep coming graphics wise as the 1S is going to struggle at some point.
Have only two days where I need to cook. Xmas day the traditional lunch. Boxing Day we have friends round. A beef bourguignon is a great shout. A simple prepare and forget
