Assuming the track passes an early inspection our fella (Rock Danse) runs at Uttoxeter in the first tomorrow. A couple of horses have run from his rules debut at Chepstow, the 7th was well beaten off but the winner came out and won the Hyde Novices at Cheltenham, make of that what you will. Our lad has thrived from his run and we hope to find out a lot more about him tomorrow. The big imponderable is the ground which is already heavy and with more rain due overnight. After his first run Liam told us he probably wouldnt want it any more testing but that is precisely what he will face tomorrow. I am not making the trip over tomorrow and by coincidence the last time I had a runner at Uttoxeter it won at 14/1 and I wasnt in attendance.
Nice couple of races at Navan over the weekend too. Possibly bigger clues to March than you're getting at Cheltenham over these 3 days of racing there. Two lovely beginner chases with one Saturday and one Sunday.
You heading to the course? If so enjoy the day and of course best of luck and hope he comes back safe and sound
Cheltenham 14,55 Chantry House 8/1 e/w four places, 15/2 sky five places Chantry House? Out 327 days, after a heavy fall at Wetherby. He returns to hurdles after more than three years evidently to gain confidence, and it would be better just to keep an eye on him, but a horse whose record after a break is: 1111111UR might be worth a bet. Risky but...
Pretty unique (and refreshing and exciting) to see the winners of both the Golden Miller Novices Chase and Broadway Novices Chase from last season's Cheltenham Festival lining up in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. Normally such animals would be firmly aimed down the graded races route so hats off and a round of applause for connections of The Real Whacker and Stage Star . As I am a romantic at heart and love a front runner I am hoping The Real Whacker can lead them a merry dance from the front. In the Triumph Trial I do hope Burdett Road can kick on from his scintillating debut performance. The word "hope" is also attached to the Skeltons' Shan Blue - I hope he can get his career back on track over hurdles today. I'll also have one eye on the former Willie Mullins runner Real Steel in that race - he has been revitalised by the move to Emmet McNamara and his hurdles mark of 126 looks exploitable. In the mares bumper I am surprised to see Easy Peasy available at 13/2 with Hills and I think she is worth a nibble. There is a nice card at Navan too, highlighted by the Fortria Chase but all eyes will be on Facile Vega in the Beginners Chase at 3.15 - by no means a penalty kick for him though with some classy horses in opposition.
Come on Rock Danse - I don't see anything to fear amongst the opposition and with the expected progression from his first run I think he can get competitive today and hopefully grab at least a place
