Is that the one that was on Vine Lane or somewhere like that? I got a few good vinyls from there years ago but last time I checked they had turned into a goth kid clothing shop to save themselves from the drop like most of the best record shops have had to :(

One of the greatest bands to have ever penned a song. I've my mother of all people to thank for introducing me to Sonic Youth. I found an old vinyl of Daydream Nation in the attic when we clearing it out about five or so years ago. I played it on my grans turntable, and fell in love.

Yeah I'd love to work in a record shop. There was a guy owned one in Leeds when I lived there and it was like a graveyard all the time. I think I was his only customer cos he'd sometimes just nip out for his lunch and ask me to keep an eye on the place while I was there.. and nobody would come. He ended up having to have a bonfire of his entire record collection because he needed the cash from people paying to watch him set fire to his livelihood. Shame they didn't just buy the damn records <doh>.

You can get good, working turntables for less than 40 quid second hand if you find a good shop. You should consider it, there's nothing quite like the sound of the crackling vinyl as your album starts playing late at night.

Thats really sad lol. Would be awful to see that. Its a shame people payed to watch perfectly good records go up in flames. Which record shop was it?

    I love the crackling sound!

Im tempted to get one, just the problem is, my CD collection is so vast,I know id have to get every CD possible in Vinyl too. So itd cost me a bomb in the long run.

Never had a name as far as I know, can't remember the street name either but it was near New Briggate and a bar called Sela which I used to like. There was another record shop on that street called Relics but that wasn't the one I'm on about.

Just buy records you don't already have. I have big collections of CDs and vinyls - some are duplicate but most aren't. When you find a good old record shop you can spend all day flipping through and test listening so you find hidden gems, something you can't do with CDs. Found a hell of a lot of great music that way.

Nah, that place was right next door to Sela I think. Wasn't bad in there but it was mostly drum and bass and breakbeats as I recall, aimed at local DJs as opposed to eclecticism.
