We have been told that Hbs fans chants IRA chants at Easter Road.
If that is the case and I have no reason to not believe the man who said it.
How could anyone from the Green Brigade or any other Celtic fan be charge with been offensive.
I thought you could not be offensive unless you offended someone or some group.
    I wonder who complained.
If the Strathclyde police are offended, why doesn't Celtic do as Derry City do and ban the Police from the
Stadium. Police are not necessary as Celtic could employ additional Stewards to control the crowd more
    effectively than the police.

Many people find IRA chants offensive and inappropriate...

But yes, consitancy is needed in laying down any "law" (and I mean football law).

Pud many people find wearing a Poppy at a football match offensive.
But they don't throw them out.

If you can't sing songs of Irish Freedom at
Celtic matches then where can you.

If the majority of Celtic fans think they can't.
Then the vast majority of fans over the years have
wasted there time, and its time for everyone to move on.

I agree the poppy has bene hijacked by sport - no need to have them on football jerseys .

If you want to sing about Irish Freedom (the IRA) then there are plenty more appropriate places (imo) to sing about them - marches, demos, meetings etc

Many people see the IRA as a terrorist organistion (and terrorist organisations are not popular in the modern world).

Many fans/supporters of the IRA see the IRA as defunct freedom fighters, disarmed and without leadership, they cannot pose any threats.
There were extensive talks lasting for years to bring about the situation that we are now in. Although the freedom songs were around at that time
there was no discussion about banning them or curtailing. They were not deemed to be offensive, so now, how come people want to make them offensive.

I've always found IRA chants distasteful and inappropriate at Football...

IMO, as stated many times, there is no place for songs about a terrorist group at football!

People can define them as they wish but I'll stick with terrorists.

Two men were killed collecting a pizza. They were killed by an IRA faction.

And you still think Celtic Park should be used to glorify these murderers?

Firstly, I don't know of a single song sang at Celtic Park that mentions these men, let alone glorifies them.

Secondly, the word "faction" intimates they are part of a wider IRA. They are not. They are an entirely different organisation.

Thirdly, the "add ons" to the songs that people find so objectionable include references to the "Provisional wing". Until reading your post I had always found it slightly crass and somewhat pointless. Now I know better.

So now we have established with absolute certainty that you are approaching this situation from a position of abject ignorance, why should anyone pay any heed to anything you have to say on the matter?

Cossy Surreyboy. I notice you asked a question this morning and then later on decided to give your answer.
In the Good Friday agreement it was agreed all British soldiers would leave the North of Ireland.
Obviously these did not. At the time of writing no one has been found guilty of their killing. I can categorically tell you, that
whoever Killed those two soldiers are the enemy of the Provisional IRA and hence nobody is signing about gloriously
    in Celtic Park.
Surreybhoy, when last in Celtic Park did you try to organise all your friends and those around you to out sing the GB.
When will you be next in Celtic Park, I will try to organise people of like mind to you, if there are any, to help you to increase
your singing group, Let me know soon.

Any mention of IRA, whether provisional, continuity, real or otherwise should not be sung at Celtic Park. That is the very simple premise that I have stated all along. where is the ignorance in that?

The fact that you don't give two hoots about the effect that these chants have on Celtic's standing shows you up as the self obsessed man that you are.

Have you been down the shankill yet giving it welly with your oh-so-important chants? Of course not. It's not geographically relevant enough.

But the corner of a football ground in Scotland is? <doh>
