Outbreaks of disorder marred Armistice Day as hundreds of football fans and members of the far right gathered by the Cenotaph on Whitehall.

A number of them explicitly stated that they had come because of Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s comments over pro-Palestinian “hate marches” and that police treated them unfavourably compared to “politically correct minority groups.”

On a day when football grounds fall silent in memory of the fallen, how ironic that a group of thugs brings not only the country into further disrepute, but football as well.

This is unusual, as it expresses an opinion rather than a straight report.

Shame: The British Interior Ministry had described a march for peace in the Middle East as a “parade of hatred”. In doing so, she stirred up a pack of fascist thugs around the Cenotaph. She and they are unworthy of the memory of those who fought against fascism

    Article from The Lancet:

"A former minister for health in England wrote to me that “The COVID-19 inquiry will make us the laughing stock in the eyes of the world.” But it is worse than that. The level of criminal incompetence exposed by recent witnesses to the UK COVID-19 Inquiry, chaired by Baroness Heather Hallett, has proven that many, if not most, of over 230 000 deaths were preventable. Amid the claims of extreme misogyny, profanity, and chaos that litter the evidence is a story of complete government breakdown."

Can't say that I disagree with any of that, but would add that the first line - “The COVID-19 inquiry will make us the laughing stock in the eyes of the world.” - also confirms something not touched upon by the author, that the Tory government focussed appearance above all else. They expressed concerns over political advantage and the appearance of their Cabinet Ministers during a time of emergency, even when some of the best intelligence available told them that they were wrong.

And, of course, nothing will happen. Most of those involved deserve lengthy prison sentences but, as we all know, the prisons are filling up with those committing the apparently more heinous crime of protesting in the streets.

I couldn't wait for 'Call Me Dave' to come back to the front benches. Just what this country needed.

UK interior minister fired by PM. This weekend her comments encouraged far-right thugs to attack the police. It was she, too, who “dreamed” of sending refugee charters to Rwanda. Good riddance. A shame she held this position.

This how the news is being presented in France today.

16 Housing Ministers in 13 years
    8 Home Secretary’s in 8 years
    6 Education Secretary’s in 4 years
    5 Chancellor’s in 4 years
    4 Health Secretary’s in 2 years
3 Prime Ministers in a year.

So it is not just WFC that keeps losing its managers.
