And fair play to the kid for leaving. Got a lot of stick for being arrogant etc but he wanted game time and wasn’t afraid to leave to get it.

 

Palmer and Sterling have been superb tonight. Best I've seen Sterling play for a while.

 

City will obviously lose games where they dominate and get hit on the counter, or by a set piece but you’ll struggle to find a team who’ll give them as good a game as that mind.

A problem within itself. He’s got his heart set on who he takes now. Henderson has gone to Saudi but to be fair to him he was the captain of a PL/CL winning team and he’s a leader so I can understand him not omitting him from the squad, I wouldn’t play him personally but I’d have him around.. but Phillips? Played no football at City and offers nothing. Rashford been crap for years anarl.

A good manager would win something with that squad like undoubtedly. Southgate wants the safe option that’ll unfortunately never be enough to win something imo. We have so much attacking talent that can’t get on the pitch.

That squad is quality and that’s why he gets away with getting so far because it’s a challenge not to, but when it comes down to the big games we struggle.

 

Southgate just wants to pick his mates and not ruffle any feathers. He'll be upstairs in the FA after the next tournament talking about getting us to the euro final and expecting to be grateful when, in actual fact, we should have blitzed Italy but he bottled it. Just like he did with his pen in Euro 96. He's a yes man and when it comes to the crunch he hasn't got the minerals.
