Please don't take this idiot for a Saints fan. It's someone who likes nothing better than to give Saints a bad reputation. He or she has been doing this on our board as well.
Ignoring for the minute the rather infantile attempt at wumming ... there has, over the last 12 months, been a degree of 'affection' develop between ourselves and Manchester City that stems from a history going back to 1969 ... when your dad was a mere lad and your hiding in the bathroom armed with tisuues reading the lingerie sections of your mum's Littlewoods catalogue was just an embarrassing bad dream for your parents... The 1969 Cup final between Manchester City and Leicester City (our fourth post war Cup final appearance) was won by a single goal scored by Neil Young, the Manhester City Centre Forward. Neil Young unfortunately died following a protracted illness around the time of the 3rd round FA Cup draw last season. By coincidence (not the only one), the thitd round draw paired us at home to the Mancs - balls from the draw having been picked by Noel Gallagher (Man City fan) and (Serge Pizzorno of Kasabian - Leicester fan) - also pairing Sven against his former player Roberto Mancini (at Inter-Milan) and a former club (as manager), whilst Mancini had also played for Leicester City in a brief, but nevertheless quality spell, under Peter Taylor. Man City fans all sported red and black scarves (the strip colour worn by Man City in that cup final) at a virtual sell out at the then Walkers and the tributes to Neil Young were treated with profound respect by the home support. The game was a cracking 2-2 draw and so impressed were we with the Manc's Poznan that we gave it back to them with some aplomb. This was repeated at the replay in Manchester by the 7,000 strong travelling Leicester support - for a midweek cup replay - something some clubs currently flying high can only dream about .. Now I hope that satisfies your question and hasn't delayed you from getting back to that bathroom for too long ...
Even Crawley took 9000 to old trafford. Come back when you're taking 6700 to a mid week fixture in Barnsley, or 6200 to Coventry.
You can only take what you're given. In the cup the away team recieves a percentage, so not suprising crawley had more tickets seeing as old trafford is bigger then the etihad. saying that, 6700 for a midweek games is impressive, especially after seeing what bristol city took to millwall today.
Are you really citing a trip from Leeds to Barnsley to justify your point? - and the Man City replay was mid-week - and in terms of using a comparable with more validity - Villa only took 4,000 to Man City for the 4th round tie - on a Saturday ...
The problem possibly stems from the fact a Leeds fan can not comprehend a state of mutual respect between opposing clubs?
I'd like to see the attendance. Seriously though, it seemed like there were about 200 away fans and even that sounds generous.
I was citing a trip from Leeds to Coventry as well... a team we don't care about over 100 miles away. Point being, most clubs outside the premier league would take 7000 to man city mid week. It's a glamour tie.
Jesus Christ, give it a rest. Gloating about your support when you are easily the biggest club in the league and from one of the biggest Cities in England smacks of insecurity.
sorry but i must confess that i didnt do the poznan 3 times today 2 nigel pearsons theres only 2 nigel pearsons this includes the np who does the commentary on the darts
As somebody said above I don't think "Barcelona are the southampton of la liga" is a Saints fan - just a weird Pompey fan tryin to make us look like arrogant bragging fools to rivals
I'll give him some stick cos he's a cupid stunt, but seriously you Saints are doing really well and it's nice to see. Hope you lot aren't going too far ahead of us though - you need to start losing at some point.
they clearly want to become man city... poznan sven trying to buy the league spend ridiculous money on ****e players. what's going on? ****ing joke club
And gloating about how much money you've got and calling everyone "jealous" and "bitter" when they've nothing to be either about based on your performances doesn't smack of insecurity?
i thought leicester were the biggest club in england???! well according to you lot that is... What smacks of insecurity is gloating about your riches and your past when you're nothing but an average championship side who won't be going up anytime soon.
And with a manager who finally saw sense and came back from a grim city in East Yorkshite or Slumberside or what ever you call that dump where Dull City is.
