Love Pritchard but long term surely Aldi has to be our long term go to, the No.10 is between him and Jobe. Pritch and Dack nice options who still have a big part to play
Really hope Seelt doesn't get dropped after the performance yday. Thought he was very good. I see him and Ballard being a wall for us and allowing for a much greater offence and defence during set plays
He does. Was bought for good money and has pedigree. Thought he looked good ydah for first game. Canny on the ball too.
Seelt and Ballard looks like a potentially quality combo. Some contrast in styles, some real height and no fear. I fully agree he should stay in and get a run.
Could 09 be used as CDM, just sitting there and allowing Neil and Ekwah to do their thing without having to worry about their defensive duties. Think 09 is more than capable of playing that holding role, just keep it simple. Give young Jobe a rest and allow TM to rotate players when he feels the need. Seelt does deserve his chance at the back, gives Tone a lot to think about over the next fortnight.
If O'Nien was out for a couple of weeks maybe but not after one match. He will point to him being consistent and reliable for however many matches he has been in the line up. Needs to be ruthless though as Seelt was bought to be the cb and now is the time to change it!
I confess I’ve not seen the last few games before this one, but I don’t think O’Nien deserves to be dropped? Was one of our best players in opening months and brings the ball out so well. A lot of our attacks come through him. Seelt very clearly the better more traditional defender and better from set plays. But Seelt was responsible for the goal we conceded today, which is about the same number of goals O’Nien has been responsible for us conceding this season. What’s encouraging for me is I wouldn’t fear if Seelt starts. And he will be all the better for this game. (Caveat - if O’Nien really dropped off the last few games then I understand what people are saying)
Thats absolute bollocks sorry mate. Seelt wasn’t responsible for the goal yesterday, he might’ve been able to close down the scorer on the off chance but Dan Neil let him jog past him then just wandered into no man’s land. It was Neil’s man not Seelts, hence why he shouted at Neil straight away. I do admire that you’ve somehow made O’nien sound like Cannavaro though O’nien will undoubtedly be better at bringing the ball out than most CB’s in the league because he’s been a midfielder all of his career but he’s there to defend. We need someone who can do both and isn’t small. We also only won 5 in the first 15 games O’nien played at CB last season, he had plenty of time to settle in we can’t expect the new lads to perfect after one game.
I like onien as a cb, but I do think it’s time for seelt for a few games, he needs to be developed. We’re 6th and I’d say we’ve been nowhere near our best for a lot of the season. I really think we need a quality holding mid. I don’t think Ekwah or Neil are naturally holding mids, they both drive forward and offer threats which is good to watch but leave us exposed. I’d have a new cdm and 2 of them/jobe/Adil running off them. Maybe take the holding mid out against lesser sides
Can't remember but did Bacuna get booked for persistently hacking down Roberts? No he escaped the 2 yellows and the Red he so rightly deserved. Same bloke poked Amad in the eye last year and got away with it , I think for some reason he seems immune to any form of punishment no matter how much he dishes out..
He doesn't deserve to be dropped but some people have never appreciated him as a player, and predictably want shot of him at the first opportunity. Definitely jumping the gun to say Seelt now deserves to start based on one relatively ropey game where he was largely responsible for their goal. In the long term I think it'll be Seelt or someone else alongside Ballard and O'Nien being a utility player. Mind you I think he'd probably leave if he wasn't starting regularly, which adds to the problem.
We now have, imo, a great balance of British and foreign players with the fantastic bonus of talented home grown lads. It's difficult to bring in the foreign players simply because of the massive culture change, language issues and all the practical logistics. Personally I believe the club, Mowbray in particular, are doing a great job introducing players in the right ways and doing their utmost to keep the whole squad happy. I'd love to see an exciting team with Rigg, Rusyn, Mayenda, Aouchiche, etc, attacking nonstop and blazing a trail to the PL. But the reality is that we need more than that to succeed. After yesterday I'm more convinced, than ever, that we have the degree of planning and organisation to bring that success. If everyone was fit Mowbray would have a huge problem. As it stands the places of Pritchard, Dack, even Hume, etc, are under pressure but that's how it should be imo. I also believe those players are still important, even Evans who's a pro and good to have around all these kids who might otherwise become bored and lose their way. That's what I fink anyway ... ... oh and the support before our second goal was commendable, I think we're learning the patience we need for the way we play, not easy but I'm getting there!
Reading through the Seelt discussion above I think the answer is there , Play Seelt for a few games and use O/9 as the holding midfield player , its a win win especially as O/9 can also cover both full back positions when our full backs go forward
