It’s almost like the worse thing that could have happened was getting 4th place last season. Obviously it’s brilliant in that exposes club to Cl football and money with it, given yoj great days like the win over psg and potentially win over Milan at SJP. But it’s also means that you haven’t been able to rotate the players midweek like we’ve been able to do and with a stronger squad in the Europa and fans expectations have sky rocketed. Obviously lots of normal fans know the situation and it’s not like you accept defeat any more beforehand, but if you’d finished 7th last year and got europe then this year pushed for a cup and towards top 4 would have still been seen as a success.
That’s ****ing horrendous tbf. Trippier has been a godsend to this club, and he’s having to go over and argue the toss with some drunken arseholes. Didn’t hear anything ott after the whistle? The fans are usually decent after a defeat. Not a good sign. We’ve got to regroup.
Exactly mate and it's exactly what I've been saying which is to expect to fall back for a couple of years, but they quite simply won't have it. They've decided Newcastle are now 4th best and they proved it by finishing 4th once ...they only see the top line and think no further. Newcastle are not the 4th best side in this country... we've still got longstaff lascelles and Ritchie .. I mean get real.
