Whilst riding high at the moment will Pompey pop their balloon when we meet at Fratton Park. I expect the Scummers to bottle it like they usually do , as we run out comfortable winners in the only derby that really matters. Any views?<ok>

If we play like we did today we'll probably lose about 5-0 <ok>

You're 20 points behind us for a reason. However, I am aware that Pompey are the better side. I am going for 2-1 pompey.

We have a chance - IF we TURN UP on the day. Something we didn't do today. And I understand from the commentary there was an awful lot of longball being played..... was that true?

Going to go and mope around now - something I'm getting real good at <laugh>

  13. SB3, after we tear you a new one at Falling Down Krap, I would see you stripped naked, sat astride an ass with a tall pointy hat on your head being led down So'ton High Street and being mocked and jeered by the good citizens of So'ton having mouldy fruit and veg thrown at you.

Lord Voldemort isn't very good at managing is he?

Honestly, SB3, shush! The most likely result is us getting spanked 6-1 or something. I'm sorry but I'm just being realistic. Unless we happen to go on a decent run of form between now and December then Southampton will be far too strong for us. Our only hope is being a derby, our players will hopefully raise their game. Even if that is the case, that might not be enough. After all, Man U got beaten pretty convincingly by City and I'd imagine most of their players were up for it.

Went to the match yesterday v watford- don't normally go to away games unless they're in London- gotta say- will not be going to another for a long, long time. After 60 minutes- only 2/3 of the way through the game; I found myself in a half empty stand- only half the sell-out 1700 that came down were still there after 60 minutes. that had to be the absolute worst performance I have ever seen.

There was one massive positive though- even with our 1700 supporters to their 11,000 supporters- we literally drowned the home fans out. They were hardly singing- we naver sat down- bar half-time- at any point in the match. Portsmouth supporters are unique !! <ok>

Gotta say- when we were 2-0 down- and we started singing "always look on the bright side of life" even brought some emotion to the Watford fans- the first time they showed any emotion all game !! "Appleton's blue army" worked well as well". We were rather respectful of our opponents to. Lets hope we can fare better against Leicester. PUP <ok>

Wake up SB3. If we play like we did against Watford we will be shredded. It was honsetly the worst performance I've seen all season. I've never said this but none of the players looked bothered. If their not gonna play for the manager, play for the fans who turned up in numbers and sung all through the games and about 20 mins after the whistle had gone. Even the lieks of Pearce, Ward and Varney who usaully give nothing under 200% didn't looked fussed. The only bright side as PFL said is that we never stopped singing throughout the game. I especially enjoyed "always look on the bright side of life".

Obviously we can't base a managers talent on 1 game and I reckon we will improve against Leicster. We have won the last 3 at home so we should continue that run. I think if the match on the 18th was based on stats then Stripehampton would kill us. Luckily its a derby match and form 9/10 goes out the window. I can imagine the atmosphere being like the 2004 and 2005 matches where we had won the match before kickoff. Everyone dressed in blue could see their players couldn't cope with the evilness of the atmosphere. The fact that their manager at the time said the same thing and their own fans have admitted to them bricking it it the stadium. That is probably our best hope. Cos otherwise to be quite honest, were ****ed.

As a Saints fan I was interested to read your comments. Many of my fellow Saints fans are concerned that the "Fortress Fratton" mentality will kick in and despite Southampton being the best team in the Championship at the moment, the atmosphere will be THE major factor. I've said this before on this board but Pompey fans are the most passionate in the country and they will not only want to see three points in the bag but Saints turned over in the fashion in which we were demolished when we got relegated from the Premiership. As far as Pompey fans are concerned , this is the match of the season for them.

On a footballing level, you don't have a chance. Most of our fringe players are superior to your first teamers and i can honestly say I wouldn't want any of your lot in my squad. The team you have at the moment doesn't do Portsmouth justice and by all accounts, half of them don't want to be there either. Having seen all the league games at home this season, Saints can go through periods where they play poorly but Adkins has the acumen to change things when they are not working and save for your passionate supporters, I would say that it would be disappointing to come away with anything less than a draw. I think that 2-2 will be the end result. No doubt, it will be a cracking game in the bear-pit atmosphere of your stadium - probably something few of our current squad have ever experienced. The return fixture will be a different matter. even if Appleton manages to improve your squad ( a new collection of has-beens and Journeymen) I think you will get taken apart at St. Mary's just as we destroyed Leeds, Middlesoborough and Brighton in the second half yesterday.
