You get ESC (spelling?) permit places for players you wouldn't get a work permit for.

We get two, I believe, in the PL you get four. Your player has to play internationals in order for the club to keep it's full allocation of ESC positions otherwise you start to lose them, hence why Celi is still in Peru, as he's not in the Peru squad and if we allocated him a place, we'd lose out on one of our permits, which could be used on players from, say, Turkey.

Work permits are probably more of an issue now than they ever have been because we no longer get the EU status for players and that limits lower league clubs in the foreign market. If you're in the PL, it's not so much of an problem because the points system works in favour of top divisions and PL teams are likely to be signing players from other top divisions elsewhere.

This is why there's been an influx of players from Japan in the UK; teams are targeting countries that are good on the international stage but perhaps don't have players playing at a high level domestically, as it eases the work permit issue. Albania are another more recent example.

3 of their best players have left, Moylan, Jarvis & Woods, unless we are still willing to let the latter 2 go back, which I would think is unlikely. Plus 2 other players have left according to their X account, so the team for next season is looking rather deleted. Will be interesting to see how Duff does going forward.

We get 4 now so I think it’s less of an issue but still something to think about
