It would be amazing to see but Scottish clubs will be no where near the Club World Cup Tournament in 2025 or 2029.

Even with an expanded 32 team list.

Rangers , based on UEFA coefficient , are far closer than Celtic to being considered but they’d have to jump into top 18 to have a remote chance.

I believe the set up is least 8 teams from Americas, from 6 Middle East / Africa , 4 from Asia and then rest from Europe (min of 12).

Champions League winners qualify and entry for European teams is based on results in champions league only over the previous 4 year period .

 

If they don’t play on a Thursday night then they can stick it up their erchies

2 English teams are already qualified i believe (champions league winners in 21/23 Chelsea , City. Then it is teams based on UEFA 4 year ranking across Champions League games. Will probably be 2 Spanish teams (both Madrid - real as winners and Madrid as best performing ?) and possible two Italian team (inter and ?).

So, unless you’ve been winning regularly and qualifying from CL group stages over past 4 seasons up to 2025 then you’ll not be invited .

It’s basically the Super League controlled by FIFA federations .

4 participants from Europe will be 4 CL winners, the other 8 will be from 8 different countries, seemingly. CL has nothing to do with the other 8, it is to do with coefficient points and you get the same point for ECL that you do for CL. For the record, I don't think for one minute that we will be in it, but not for the reasons you are saying.

 

My understanding it’s coefficient points earned in CL only over a 4 year period (different criteria from current 5 and 10 year coefficients).

Maybe it’s not fully determined yet - uefa need to make sure the big teams are catered for.


But yeah, Scottish teams will be nowhere near it. Ever.

 

Nope, it is just coefficient points from Europe, hence Rangers are even being mentioned i.e. our run to the EL Final.

 

I beg to differ as many articles reference the 4 year performance in CL and I believe the final criteria has not been defined by UEFA.

However, it’s neither here nor there as rangers would then have to jump at least 16 places .

Celtic would have to jump 44.

 

They must have changed the criteria then, which is more than possible. Anyway, it will end up being a ****e competition that only the winners will care about.
