I got a multi car renewal from Admiral and it had gone up by 30%. I went on to compare the market and Aviva looked very good. I had 12 years no claims discount on two cars. Aviva only accept no claims discount on one of the cars. I only found this out after they received the payment. I was that fed up with going online for all the correspondence that I went to zero no claims discount on one of the cars. It didnt cost very much extra. Oh to be able to talk to a real person on the phone.

EVs are getting very bad press at the moment.

Purely on principle, if I ring my insurance company and they get me a better deal than I can get from another company, I don’t renew. They send a renewal and say “this is the cost”, then you ring them and they say “we can reduce that” at which point I simply tell them they should’ve got the best price possible and not just “hoped” that I didn’t look at other prices

The fire at Luton airport multi storey car park was caused by an ev according to the press. Apparently a diesel car caught fire which was parked next to an EV. EVs are very difficult to put out when on fire.

Admiral sent me a renewal price then offered me a discount after I phoned them up. Why didnt they offer me that in the first place. It was still too expensive.

All reports I have seen say the fire probably started due to a fault on the diesel cars battery.

It's the fault of a government that's been in charge for the last dozen years ...

Mine went up £700 this year. The cited the same reason as folk have said ‘economy, cost or repairs’.

3 days of back and forth on live chat and it ended up £50 less than last year but was a right **** on.

Robbers. Insurance companies are stealth energy companies they absolutely rake it in.

Mine went up £100 this time. Went on compare and got a £50 cheaper quote, but I didn't really want the Clart on, so rang my ins up and told them about cheaper quote and they instantly matched it. I'm pretty sure now that I could have said any figure and they would have matched, I'll be trying it on a bit next time.

The thing that pissed me off was the fact my best quote on compare the market was from my own insurer. So that 7 ton they added was pure bullshit.

They still didn’t match the new customer quote, even though the first year with an insurer costs them more as they have setup costs, but they were still way below the second best so wasn’t gonna piss off on principle and spend more elsewhere.

    I haven’t claimed since 1999.

Mines £550 more expensive this year and couldn’t get down further than that, that’s with moving insurance provider too. Only thing that changed was an extra years no claims.

Feels like everyone is just taking the piss and making sure they get their piece of the pie at the minute.

It’s so annoying mate, it’s all in plain sight as well. Energy, fuel, insurance. It’s all bullshit we know it, they know we know it and it’s allowed to continue.

I swear I feel for low income households with kids and such cos I don’t know how they are managing.

Im fortunate to be in a good financial place, but me and the missus did the maths and we reckon we are about £800- a grand worse off than 2 year ago all told, which many families can’t carry.

The country and indeed the world is in aHorrific mess and the blanket refusal to tax the rich corporations at an appropriate level is what’s causing it.

You have places proudly announcing their record income quarter on quarter and refusing to pay staff their worth, a friend of mine who works for one of the biggest companies in Britain was telling me they took them all into a roadshow style meeting, and in the same hour told them ‘well done we’ve set record profits’ and ‘we can’t afford to give you a decent pay rise’.

    The same ****ing meeting. Madness.

That’s standard. You should only be claiming NCD on one car.

I’ve never understood how any company making a decent profit can also have staff who need to claim benefits to survive. So basically we are just paying their staff for them<doh>

Madness mate. Centrica (British Gas) posting profits nearly 1000% up on the last year then sending letters out to say they’re there for you if you need help. Stop charging me f*cking £300 a month for gas and electric that would help <doh>

I’m in a similar boat where I’m lucky enough to earn a wage that’s significant up here but whilst my missus was on maternity then the period that followed we struggled like f*ck. And I remember sitting there sorting some finances out thinking how are low income families or even though on your average wage actually surviving at the minute this is mental.

Big corporations squeezing every penny they can out of people whilst most of us are taking pay cuts in reality because of the cost of living.
