So you saying what you like and then IF it's correct you boast you were right, but if it's wrong you claim it was intended reverse psychology. And that isn't mental gymnastics? OK, you need to provide a definition then mate.
No because reverse psychology isn't making excuses or finding reasons to justify an argument without sufficient or justifiable evidence. Two different things mate. I would say faith is peak mental gymnastics. Reverse psychology is a load of **** but just as ridiculous.
Football fans constantly need to twist and bend their views to suit their emotional decision making. That's why they are the experts in performing mental gymnastics ... one week something works for them emotionally and it's correct, but the next week the same thing works against them and it's wrong.
Ah but I would argue that you responding with "reverse psychology" whenever you are wrong is exactly this... “Mental gymnastics” happen when our brains spiral into destructive thought patterns—making up excuses or arguments for unjustifiable decisions or situations." When you are wrong, it gives you a get out to excuse being wrongly negative before an event, because you were 'just playing'. Whereas if your prediction does come true then you bang on about it like you are a genius.
But when you are wrong you simply say "reverse psychology" and so we therefore accept you were indeed rght?
No that's just called taking the piss and because I fully aware it's not mental gymnastics. The reality is as explained in my last post that football fans are in general the world's most active mental gymnasts in the universe because they bend and twist everything to suit their emotional preferences.
You agree and I'll accept I do it and so does everyone. Some realise , but unfortunately some are completely blind to it and they are the best performing gymnastics.
It is impossible to not use mental gymnastics at some point especially where emotional decision making is at such an extreme so yes I do actually. I'm aware though and I can identify it in others too and I will always point it out in an attemp to help them become more self aware.
