I would have said if that's a syrup you're wearing I'd take it back.

If you're married, and the combined earnings of yourself and your spouse is less than £62,500 you will pay more tax under a Labour Government.
Jeremy Corbyn has admitted this himself, yesterday evening.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50567979

Corbyn is on record as promising that only the richest 5% of people will pay more tax if he becomes Prime Minister.
So now apparently, 4.2 million married couples on a combined income of less than £62,500 are in the top 5% of UK earners.

The list of groups being targeted for discrimination by Labour is growing...
    • Married couples
    • Anyone working in the private sector
    • Anyone who earns over £80,000 a year
    • Jewish people
    • White British school children
And to top things off, Corbyn admitted his future Government cannot afford to honour it's pledge to pay women the retirement money they have lost.
He said he would borrow it from somewhere.

This man doesn't have a clue what he is doing.

Now Labour have finally twigged that hardly any 'leave' voters from 2016 are going to vote for them now, even in their old heartlands...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50580699

What is this change in strategy going to involve?
Trying to convince people that Corbyn's "credible" deal option in a second EU referendum will be anything other than Remain by another name?

<laugh> Good luck with that Jezza.
He won't even back his own sham 'deal' in a second referendum, and neither will any other prominent Labour politician.
Labour under Momentum is 100% Remain orientated. As much as the Lib Dems, but lacking the honesty to admit it.
All they have cared about for years is their supposed new power-base in London. They haven't given a toss about the North and it's traditional Labour supporting population, who don't happen to be terrorist sympathisers and extremists who hate this country.

Ex-labour voters in the North who want Britain to leave the EU aren't stupid enough to fall for more of Corbyn's lies about Europe.

    The tree planting wars....

    Opening shots...

Tories … 30 million per year
Lib Dems … 60 million per year
    Labour …. 100 million per year … 2 billion by 2040 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50578207)

    Questions ?
    1) Where are all these trees going to come from?
    2) Where are all these trees going to be planted?

Let's hope everybody wants to become vegan because a hell of a lot of farmland is going to be converted to forests...

Note to politicians.. we can have 'off shore' windfarms but 'off shore' forests are more tricky <ok>

    In answer to your questions;

    1) I think FHB told us new saplings are all imported. If so, this is the daftest import in history. Every tree I know drops nuts/seeds of some kind. If we cannot cultivate them here, how useless are we?

    2) The Tories will plant them in Scotland. Nobody cares where the Lib Dems would plant them, because they ain't getting elected. Labour would plant them in war cemetaries, and on land confiscated from Jewish people (oops, sorry, "the richest 5%" as Corbyn likes to refer to them).

95% are imported, according to a tree nursery Mrs FHB visited recently. It's down to money, like most things. There is a nursery in Faversham which grows them from seed, I don't know how prices compare. Tomorrow is Black Friday, when we are conned into believing we are getting bargains, when in fact a survey shows that 95% of "offers" have been available at the "offer" price in the last 6 months. There is a whole debate about whether consumers have any responsibility beyond buying the cheapest option.

this always baffles me... surely if the trees are saplings, then they are already planted? like, it's not extra, as they are already there (or being grown somewhere)

Following on from the lost Retro Sweets thread, I found this lurking in the archives. Seems quite timely to revive it.

    Any modern suggestions ?

What about “Labour could win the next election if the Tories don’t bring back Boris ?”

She'll be desperately disappointed if there's no trouble at the march tomorrow, having done her best to fan the flames.

Richi won’t be able to get out quick enough once they lose. No way will he lead the opposition in Parliament. Too much like hard work and too much money to be made elsewhere. He’s got his place in the history books already.

I can see a definite shift to the right in the Tories if they lose. To be honest, if they don’t move that way, then I can’t see them getting back in for a long while. Their policies are just too close to the left at the moment and it doesn’t give voters much choice.

    Labour or Labour lite.

Boris, Suella, Nigel and Nadine in a foursome for me.

I'm sure the Daily Mail crew are getting ready to make a front page splash out of even the most minor incident, if there is no real trouble.

Comparing 'right wing' marches (anti-lockdown, supported by Piers Corbyn?) with 'left wing' marches such as BLM is a bit of a stretch too.
How many anti-lockdown marchers were there? A few thousand absolute max. Probably only hundreds.
And at a time when protests were banned due to lockdown rules. Of course the Cops had to be tough.
1/4 million marched for BLM, and not far off that many in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
The policing strategies would doubtless have been very different by necessity.

Suella is out of control. Her outpourings of spite are becoming almost rabid.

The Daily Mail and the Sun have become so toxic that they are reduced to making up stories about poppy-sellers being afraid of attacks, when in fact there is not a shred of evidence of a single attack. The Telegraph which used to be a serious newspaper is going down that route now. The Guardian does have its left-leaning columnists, but it fairly well separates the news from opinion, whereas the Daily Mail is little more than a propaganda sheet, and those who rely on it for information will see the world through very angry eyes. That's what it does- makes its readers angry about something every day. I don't believe that Ted Verity, the editor, believes a lot of it, but it sells papers, as the circulation figures show.
Suella's latest anti-police column in The Times was not signed off by No. 10, which confirms that she is, as you say, out of control.

So that front page picture with a red ring on it a few days ago claiming to show a poppy seller being punched at a pro-Palestine demo was fake?
I can't remember which newspaper it was.

I didn't want to believe it. So shameful if it was true...

Poor journalism....again. Check your sources! The poppy-seller has been named and shamed as a serial liar, so I expect he'll get a hard time now.

Labour could win the next election if……….the Tories become so desperate that they bring back failed former Prime Ministers, who lacked the bottle to carry out the will of the British people after they asked for their opinion.
